Im an out of state hunter. Been going to the same general area in CO since 2002. Its OTC, I draw a buck tag most years. 2 years I haven't killed my bull.
I do not like having a muzzle loader hunt while archery season is open. Even though I hunt archery elk elsewhere, seems counter productive to have gun shots going off during archery.
I like the structure for the elk seasons. I would not mind if there were a couple more days gap between first and second, even if I lost one day and 1st ruffle was opened one day earlier. It doesn't have to open on a Saturday.
I normally have never competed with other hunters where I hunt. But the last couple years I have seen more hunters while in the field then several years combined. Twice last year I was going after Elk only to have another hunter shoot at them.
I do not like the early bull season. I would like there to be some time between the rut and rifle season as previously mentioned.
I do not like the short 5 day seasons suggested. It would not be worth me driving all the way there for only 5 days.
Seems like I would prefer alt 1 and alt 3 for Elk. I also would not mind having all OTC go to a draw system. There is a way to not burn points to draw for non premium tags and get a point each year for when you get enough to draw a better unit.
As long as I get to hunt each year, with opportunity being what I make of it and I don't run into hunters each day. Pretty easy right...
