Completely in favor of that but maybe my brain isn’t working. Would that only be good for only OTC units within a specific DAU? Curious since at least some DAUs contain both.

This just in from this afternoon.

The CPW has reversed their decision and Residents will have OTC archery elk and NonRes will be limited.
Correction!! Staff recommends residents retain and nonres loose OTC archery elk but that is far from a done deal. Plenty of advocates for excessive nonresident access to tags, including outfitters, will be fighting that recommendation. I signed up to give comments and encourage others to do likewise.

Thats a win for R, but still don't understand limiting NR archery while keeping OTC rifle.

I voiced my opinion already, but archery is spread out that time of year while the huntable area for rifle can be cut in half due to weather. Way more crowding in rifle seasons.

Archery is low hanging fruit, rifle seasons make more money for the state and for the outfitters

As a NR I'm in favor of removing OTC archery from the standpoint of trying to get better quality (less crowded) hunts. But I do wish it also removed unlimited OTC rifle for NR.

If I was a resident I'd be wanting the OTC option still so hard for me to knock that.

Overall - need to take steps to limit the overall number of hunters so herd stays strong in historically overrun/overhunted areas.

Well, as a FNG going on my first hunt this year, this puts a damper on my dreams of doing a western hunt every year. Reckon I should start researching how to apply for draws in every state.

Speaking of every other state, how is this going to impact the draw in other states? Is demand going to skyrocket for everywhere else, causing more point creep?

as a general rule, when NR opportunity decreases in one state, that leaves a lot of hunters willing to travel on the market looking elsewhere, and draw odds decrease other places. Been watching it for a long time.
