Cliff Grays Podcast with Aaron Davidson

He could be a great guy! But ask yourself this philosophical question…

Do you believe the ethos of “1000 yards out of the box”. is good for hunting overall?

I do not, and it has absolutely nothing to do with budget.
Is advertising rifles capable of shooting accurately to 1000 yards or is he advertising that his rifle makes the hunter lethal to 1000 yards?

If there's a bunch of disclaimers about being dependent on someone being able to read wind, understanding how atmospherics impact solutions and velocity, understanding that velocity may migrate over the life of a barrel, etc I sure haven't seen them so they sure aren't front and center. Comes off to me like they are selling a "1000 yard system" that does the work for ya.

WTF is 1000 yards "ready" anyway? Vs 800, 900, 1100, etc yards?

But they do offer training classes to teach the skills and I believe he said many take those classes.

Yep, their marketing schitck is clearly “buy this gun, go on a hunt and whack shit at 1000 yards!”

I’ve never seen any mention of understanding ballistics, wind, lot changes on powder, new brass versus fired, practicing, or anything pragmatic. Just buy the gun and it will make you an instant marksman and bad ass hunter. That bothers me tremendously.

I personally know of two individuals who bought GW “systems”, and were only exclusively interested in GW, specifically because they did not want to invest the time in setting up a rifle, learning the ballistics, practice, range time etc. One of them told me almost verbatim “I bought this gun because I don’t have the time or interest in spending all that time at the range. I just want to grab the gun and go hunting”. He was proud to show me his new “6.5”. As he pulled it out of the case, I asked and he honestly did not know whether he owned a 6.5 creedmore or prc. Worse yet, he didn’t care. He just knew he could go kill deer at 1000 yards with it because it was a Gunwerks. I wanted to puke.

  • RIFLE ZEROED & READY
During testing, each rifle scope is zeroed for point of impact at 100 yards, ready for 1000 yards Out of the Box™!
Thats from their website. Granted it does not say anything about wind and all that other stuff, but it does not say anything about hunting either. It reads as if the rifle is capable which i would bet it is.

You ever watched one of their “Long Range Pusruit” shows? IMO, the intent of that trademarked (LOL!) message is abundantly clear. Grab the rifle and go afield to put that “guarantee” to work. Easy peezy.

Yeah, I’m sure the rifle is capable. But never one mention of also making sure that the nut behind the rifle is capable!

Do you guys hunt and shoot or just sit around on a computer bitching about someone's marketing slogan? Serious question.

Cpl hundred rounds fired this morning at the range. 3 big game critters put in the freezer in the last 5 weeks. Nice try anyway…

I actually have not seen any of their videos. So would you say Form and others are irresponsible for saying the 223 tikka with a 77 TMK IS CAPABLE TO 500 yards. Somebody may read that and buy a tikka and think they can shoot to 500 yards, but they might not be capable.

What does that have to do with posting daily bitching about someone else's business that is none of your business? If you don't see the difference I can't help you. Its not like I have 1435 posts....

That’s a whole other debate, and one I personally do not always agree with, but that’s beside the point. I also don’t think that discussion is really relevant here as Form would be the first one to preach the importance of field practice and shooting proficiency first. There is plenty of his written commentary supporting this fact.

Just to be clear i dont think Form and others are irresponsible either, but i think Aaron preaches the same.

Aaron literally discusses how long they've been offering training and teaching to their customers. They've been at it I'd bet longer than "Form" has been a presence on the web.

People not even listening to what the guy talked about and then bashing him over it. Don't make no sense and doesn't help your cause.
