Cliff Grays Podcast with Aaron Davidson

He could be a great guy! But ask yourself this philosophical question…

Do you believe the ethos of “1000 yards out of the box”. is good for hunting overall?

I do not, and it has absolutely nothing to do with budget.
Is advertising rifles capable of shooting accurately to 1000 yards or is he advertising that his rifle makes the hunter lethal to 1000 yards?

If there's a bunch of disclaimers about being dependent on someone being able to read wind, understanding how atmospherics impact solutions and velocity, understanding that velocity may migrate over the life of a barrel, etc I sure haven't seen them so they sure aren't front and center. Comes off to me like they are selling a "1000 yard system" that does the work for ya.

WTF is 1000 yards "ready" anyway? Vs 800, 900, 1100, etc yards?

But they do offer training classes to teach the skills and I believe he said many take those classes.

Yep, their marketing schitck is clearly “buy this gun, go on a hunt and whack shit at 1000 yards!”

I’ve never seen any mention of understanding ballistics, wind, lot changes on powder, new brass versus fired, practicing, or anything pragmatic. Just buy the gun and it will make you an instant marksman. That bothers me tremendously.

I personally know of two individuals who bought GW “systems”, and were only exclusively interested in GW, specifically because they did not want to invest the time in setting up a rifle, learning the ballistics, practice, range time etc. One of them told me almost verbatim “I bought this gun because I don’t have the time or interest in spending all that time at the range. I just want to grab the gun and go hunting”. He was proud to show me his new “6.5”. As he pulled it out of the case, I asked and he honestly did not know whether he owned a 6.5 creedmore or prc. Worse yet, he didn’t care. He just knew he could go kill deer at 1000 yards with it. I wanted to puke.

  • RIFLE ZEROED & READY
During testing, each rifle scope is zeroed for point of impact at 100 yards, ready for 1000 yards Out of the Box™!
Thats from their website. Granted it does not say anything about wind and all that other stuff, but it does not say anything about hunting either. It reads as if the rifle is capable which i would bet it is.
