Chaser you might try adding more fatty cuts of meat. Or even butter. It might help boost your energy levels. At least that has been my experience. Also may look at some electrolytes. Even just a pinch of salt.

When I feel tired or sluggish it seems like I haven't eaten enough or maybe to lean of meat. I eat a lot of wild came and it really is to lean by it self for my body.

This. Also, @*zap* also posted a video about becoming fat adapted and timelines for doing so. Everyone is different. Could take 2-6 weeks.

Maybe cover the lean meat with bacon fat or ghee. Pretty e-z to add fats that way.

Congrats on the progress, OP. I'm gonna sub and follow along. I've always done a keto on and off, usually very aggressive strict keto for 3-4 months then cycle back on the carbs for hunting season/elevation. I've been wanting to try some different programming, Paleo or Carnivore and such so wanting to follow along here and see how others are handling it. I'll still cycle off probably, winter and spring time is beer season for me.

I work in healthcare and think about the carnivore diet every so often when patients ask me or I see something in the news. I have not researched it extensively enough to be knowledgeable or have my own opinions but have learned a bit about it through podcasts and such. I am always open to learning more so I would love to hear your thoughts on how one can meet their daily requirements for fiber and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) while on this diet, as those are often two places it reportedly falls short. Do those following the diet recommend any additional fiber or multivitamin supplements to help meet these needs?

Edit: Spelling
Fiber is not a required nutrient and meat has every vitamin and mineral in its most bio available form.

So was debating creating a thread then saw this thread and figured I’d hood on and try to give a brief story about my experience on carnivore. I am 30 years old very fit and active and always have been but I have suffered horribly the past 8 years from chronic Lyme disease, Chronic arthritis and a host of other auto immune issues. For the past 6 years I would get swelling so bad in my hands/feet I wouldn’t be able to walk and would have to crawl around on my knees and wasn’t able to work during those flare ups. Not to mention I would get random 104 fevers and skin issues about every other week and was always sick and of course doctors were useless and just would give me antibiotics back to back which made things even worse looking back now. I have tried every single “miracle cure” herb and this and that supplements out there with very little effect. Tried paleo then keto and that didn’t help at all I would still get nasty flare ups then stumbled on the Carnivore diet and figured what do I have to lose and now I have been full carnivore since last September and have been strict lion diet the past two months preparing for hunting season as I have 5 out of state tags this year. All I can say is EVERY single symptom I had is completely vanished and not one single flare up, I have no more swelling no more arthritis and my chronic Lyme disease is in remission. I’ve haven’t felt this good in close to 10 years I’m working out 5 days a week and feeling like Superman. I hope this can help someone and feel free to message me with any questions or if someone else is going threw something similar. I have put in a crazy amount of hours researching this diet since I started.

So, the past week or so I have found myself less and less hungry. I have high energy despite my reduced food intake. I have been starting my day with 20oz of coffee with 3tbs of butter and some heavy cream. I eat about 3/4lbs of meat for lunch and have been having to force myself to eat dinner. I have done some research for back country archery elk hunts and found the website I will post below. They have bulk freeze dried meats, eggs, and butter flakes. I bought some mylar food bags with oxygen absorbers. I plan on making my own meal packs. Also, for any military, vets, first responders, or licensed guides, there is an app called “guidefitter” you can get access to for steeply discounted prices on all things hunting. They have anything you can imagine from optics, to nutrition, to firearms, ammo, archery, blinds, packs, tree stands, clothing, packs, footwear, hydration, e-bikes, decoys….you name it, they have it.

Here is the link to the Guidefitter website. They also have an app.

Did you ever put these meals together? Any advice on what to do and what not to do?

Carnivore for a health condition or try to solve something going on.
Carnivore for fun and something new.
It is a diet that can help some TEMPORARILY and that’s it.
It is not sustainable for long term.
If you are eating Metamucil and vitamins to compensate just eat the dang food.
It’s all bs and money driven.
You mark my word, oats and potatos are coming back.

Interested in how it’s not sustainable long term? And if it’s not then why are there people that have been eating this way for over 20+ years with no supplements. I’ll wait.

J Miller I read your post and it helped you,you had some issues and it helped, thats great a now you know what helps you.
Now it’s up to you to live the that life.
Most don’t want to stick to anything more than a few weeks and it’s not sustainable for most people,For 20 years?maybe a few areas of the world because they had no choice, either because of a health condition or that’s all they had.Any thing can be done but im being realistic in todays time talking about a diet on a hunting fourm.Nobody said it didn’t help some but the father that has a job,3kids and hunts all he can, plus works out 5-7 days a week needs a lot of fuel. It’s dam hard to eat that way and live a life.
How many off you heard of carnivore diet before Paul, delauer or rogan or baker mentioned it.It’s was brought to the mainstream for marketing. Why are they ALL adding other food in now.Because we need other things in our diet to thrive. Some do ok and even good on carnivore but it’s a calorie restriction/food elimination diet just like keto,Akins, etc.
Pick what you like and try them,I have done them all and like I said it’s fun to try different stuff.I eat mainly beef, deer and about 10 lbs a week,it is my preference,I have mentioned before I think food supplements (not vitamins)are a waste as well. Most don’t need them unless there doing 90 % of everything perfect and you can get what you need from whole food.
Not even sure what the last comment means.

I found keto utterly unnecessary to lose weight. Just eat fresh meat and all the veggies you want..nothing else. "Meat" includes butter and oil.

No between-meal cravings or crashing blood sugar. Healthy and satiating. Extremely easy.

I get your opinion but I don’t see any evidence that this diet isn’t sustainable other then a WANT to add things back in? I understand that because other foods are addictive but theirs is no NEED to add other foods back in to thrive. I am in the same boat 3 kids and some weeks I work 60+ hours a week and workout 5 days a week prepping for season right now and it’s never been easier then on this way of eating I have all the energy I would ever need and the mental clarity is unreal. I do understand most people don’t want to have to “restrict” their diet because they don’t want to but that doesn’t mean it’s the correct diet for us. For people like me that can hardly live without it and it’s changed their lives and do some research there’s tens of thousands healing on this way of eating, I truly believe it’s out SAD that causes 90% of out diseases we are seeing today because it’s not food we were meant to eat.

Oh I was soo foggy when I was eating all those fruits and vegetables.

20+ years. Lol. Maybe the Inuits dripping seal fat on some Walrus meat. No one has heard of this shit 20 years ago. Maybe five years.

I have thought about trying this deal for a short term because it sounds fun and I like to eat meat. As in way more than anyone I know. Like all the other miracle diets, the claims all sound like bullshit.

Don't eat garbage, get some exercise. There's your diet.

What about frozen meat?

Too cold. I thaw and cook it first. 😁

By "Fresh" I meant unprocessed. Any meat protein (mammal, fowl, fish, reptile) works well for me. Frozen generally has most, or essentially all, of the original nutrients.

I've been on this lifestyle diet for eight years. At 61 I'm happy with the results. Only "supplement" is salt tablets, since I work in a warehouse that is essentially an oven in summer.

Just had my testosterone tested and it was 541. BP runs under 120/80 and resting heart rate is about 52-56.

Publix blood pressure machine.

Genetics plays a role, but I was 195 before I changed my eating habits. 170 now.
