Bipod Shootout

I would like to see a good review with Atlas as well as the knock offs too. You see quick reviews on youtube but nothing with bigger rifles loading the pods and seeing how well they hold up. I cant afford the Atlas and its looking like another Harris for me.

I know that you are asking about bipods, but are you going to include any shooting sticks as an alternative? How I have several bipod options but have used more sticks in the field then bipods when it came to pulling the trigger.

I will generally take the first solid rest I can find whether a pack, rock, branch, etc that I believe will meet my needs irregardless of whether I have a bipod or sticks along.

I think that is a great idea for my next project. We should have a full review with the bipods we're getting. I like the idea of doing one on sticks separately after this one.

My major interest are in the aspects that relate to hunting. Speed to attach the bipod to the rifle (I dont generally hunt with a bipod on), and the speed to setup for a shot, I'd also like to see tests of everything from prone to shooting while seated on a sidehill. It would also be interesting to see tests on some of the new bipod "ecosystems" that are being marketed, where a single bipod will have multiple attachements, leg lengths, etc.

I'd personally like to see the Javelin bipod tested, along with the Evolution.

Also very interested in the new Javelin tripod. Something that could possibly be used as an ultralight shooting platform, glassing platform, trekking poles and tent poles. But it may just be way too light weight to accomplish all of those tasks.

I don't think so tdot - I stumbled upon the Javelin system at the SCI show and spent a little time talking with one of the owners - they appear to be every bit as strong as any carbon fiber trekking pole and the sitting length bipod is ridiculously lightweight - a bit spendy but I'm gonna look at them much closer - the magnetic attachment system is cool

I have an early Harris. The low one. It is fantastic and I move it from rifle to rifle.

It was inexpensive. Had to be. I bought it with my allowance maybe 30 years ago.

Since Ryan and I have both been talking with the companies, I'm not sure exactly who all we have confirmed. Looks like we'll include most, if not all the bipods asked about so far.

Need to include Harris bi-pods in with your evaluation. I would put the pivoting model with the quick adjust legs that have the notches. They are the cats meow.

With such a huge presence in the market lately, how about champion? I'm sure they won't perform as well as the other, more expensive units with better adjustability. However would love to see how it stacks up to them for the cost.

Check with tiptop for their pan/pivot. I stumbled across them when exploring the cheapo vs harris vs etc. and liked that their one model had pan/pivot all in one tensioner. However glancing at the blawkhawk traverse/pan model they may be a rebrand of the same offering, not sure off hand.

Anyways look forward to the test results.
