Great information so far! what id like to know is what is the heaviest of the guns your testing the bipods on.. my rifle is on the heavier side and I am currently running a harris and am having trouble with the legs staying at the same level after my first shot..

My .300 win mag is about 12 lbs right now with that Bushnell ERS scope on it. For a heavy rifle I prefer the Evolution, and the Atlas bipods. Both of them have legs that positively lock, and can handle the recoil without collapsing. I personally give the Evolution a slight edge for long range, heavy rifle work due to the way the tilt locks on it vs the tension type lock of the Atlas. The Extreme Pod is also nice, but I've had a little trouble with it wanting to fold if I don't have it loaded enough. I'm told they have fixed that on later models, but the one I have is an earlier model they sent to Ryan a while back.

Next to the javelin what is the next lightest ?

The Extreme and Atlas are next, and weigh almost the same at about 12 oz. each.

I still have a little bit to finish on the article but I don't think you can beat the Evolution for versatility. I really like how fast I can switch from prone legs to sitting legs.

One of the Facebook groups I am on there were a lot of negative issues with the Evo breaking in the middle of prs style matches.

I'm needing a new complete bipod system from the rails down to the legs and I looked at the EVO on their website yesterday, which is somewhat lacking in user friendliness IMHO, especially for such an expensive item. The options and versatility are very attractive and I am seriously interested in their products, but I expected the system to weigh less. I emailed them with some questions and I specifically inquired about their new Pan-Head model which is mentioned but not covered on their website yet. I'm currently awaiting a response.

It appears that they have addressed the leg problems with a collar of some type and they are offering to repair and modify any older legs that are out there. I'm sure that I'll eventually call them for explanations about everything, but meanwhile I'm looking at the other bipods available and looking forward to more information here.

As intriguing as the gadgetry of the EVO is, the light weight and simplicity of the Javelin has my interest as well. I'm studying...

If light weight is the goal, the Javelin is the way to go out of the bipods I have been testing. It also gives you the ability shoot prone or sitting although it takes a little more time to switch the legs. It's also totally different than most bipods since you don't keep it attached to the rifle but instead use it more like attachable shooting sticks.
