Tricer RP Bipod Review

Your concerned with it holding up to a 100 rounds of field use?? Is your buddy using a rocket launcher

Sure it will handle the weight if you aren't slamming the rifle around. Mine is on a 14lb gun right now and I could shoot a match with it without worry. But I would also just use a triple pull instead if I had one. It is a heavier duty tool--right for this job

If you are hard on your gear and it is underneath a 16lb gun, I would not personally expect the Tricer to last multiple matches.

No, I'm not concerned with it holding up to even thousands of rounds the way that 99.9% of people use their bipod in the field. Laying down or kneeling and shooting at your leisure doesn't test anything.

I'm concerned with it holding up to the positions that bipods get pushed into when under pressure and on the clock.

It did just fine today by the way and there were other people using them in the match as well.

Yeah I imagine it's gonna be a pretty popular bipod for nrl hunter events. Not everyone can afford a triple pull.
I agree for sure. I'm not trying to bash it. I'm just giving my honest opinion of it's strengths and weaknesses.

Everyone has to decide for themselves what is worth the money or even the weight penalty to them or not.

Here’s a $400 alternative. No pan feature. Solid lockup. Well built. Only $50 more than the Tricer product.

Do you have any affiliation with them? You've posted a thread on it and then also included this in both main Tricer bipod threads....
Nope. Just excited about the bipod. I’ve been nagging them for a couple months to get one as soon as they were available. Paid for it with my own money and no discount.

I’ll gladly carry a few ounces extra in an NRL Hunter match, especially if it means having the functionality and features I want (and not having to take a drill to a new product).

I mean… my NRL rifle weighs 16 pounds.
Open heavy - less of an issue as long as it's not a damn near PRS rifle with weights stripped. But if a guy is trying to hit open light or factory, especially if using a suppressor, 1 # could be a big deal.

MDT Triple-pull is king for NRL Hunter.

The bipod you mentioned is kinda in between the Tricer and MDT imo. Not light but not as heavy as the Triple-pull.

The Tricer lets me run factory class with triple pull capabilities. The tripod you referenced puts me into open heavy, which negates the benefit of the twist lock legs, in my opinion.

I think its going to be a top notch hunting bipod and a cheaper/ lighter option than the MDT offerings for NRL. Like many others have said I wish it didn't have pan or had a pan lockout.
Ball head is definitely weird and will take some more shooting to get used to, and not the fastest to deploy… also just drives my OCD crazy since it’s impossible to square it in any direction 😂.

I do think for lighter-weight hunting rifle applications it is pretty sweet (despite some of the downfalls everyone has been mentioning). The ability to shoot sitting/kneeling in a sub 1lb package is great. Price point is pretty awesome too (though it’s likely a result of everything being made in “Gina”).

This is a great thread. Glad to hear other opinions on the RP. I grabbed one on sale over memorial day. Very nearly sent it back cause I found the reverse thread legs annoying and didn't like that you have to push the buttons to deploy the legs. Not a quick deploy, though I'm a hunter first, only NRL-curious at the moment. Decided I'd keep it cause it still seems like the most versatile option with everything included, and I like the price + weight.

Still trying to decide if I'd run the long legs in the field. I set it up with long legs fully extended and holding a tripod leg for a rear rest. Can get very stable in that setup.

Also, for anyone that added loctite, where do you recommend adding that? I'd guess the screws around the head where the legs attach? Maybe the screw for the swappable heads too? I haven't tried to pull anything apart to add it, but seems like a good move.

One more question. Do people hate on pan because it's just extra movement that makes positioning more finicky? And you don't really need it cause you'd just lift and rotate the whole gun + bipod to make that adjustment?

I haven't actually shot off my RP yet, but it does feel like there's a lot of movement in the head. Kinda the nature of a ball head though.

For one. Out of square bipod legs will recoil less predictably too.
