I’ve found the 1-6 Accupoint that rode around on my 375 Ruger for a few years (before I moved it to an AR to scratch a momentary itch that digests cheaper ammo) to hold zero exceptionally well on multiple fly out Alaskan knock around adventures, including me busting my ass and landing on the rifle twice packing out a big Blacktail down Kodiak’s lovely muddy steep hillsides, TSA, plenty of recoil cycles, tipping over to fall into the alders when a gust moved the limbs too much, etc.
I think I’ll have to buy another probably. Only minor gripe is SFP, but that’s due to the fiber optic (which I like a lot) and keeping 1-2x super useful. I don’t think there’s a better LPVO for a ‘brush gun’ in terms of simple ease of use per dollar on a mid range hunting rifle.
***Edit just to say ‘I totally agree’. Getting behind this scope is a pleasure and very fast, just ‘bam!’ instant big beautiful sight picture.
They are very nice. Optically amazing, eye box ease, awesome reticle (I had German #4 green). Longer, easy mounting flexibility. Some things to consider, tail heavy due to huge eye box, may have to grind down the mag ring nub at very least round the very sharp edges or you'll skin yourself on a bolt action if on 6x (self trainer). Otherwise awesome scopes. On a lightweight slender gun it looks and feels like a gorilla on a tricycle and you notice that rearward weight balance and overall top heavy feel which you notice very quickly when you put the below scope on same light slender rifle.
Sold mine for nx8 dmx capped, it's downside is almost too short for mounting flexibility, might not fit well if trying to span long actions and meet eye relief if you have longer lop rifle, .2 mil per click (translated into 185 or 205 yard zero for me on 308, settled on 205, windage able to get on mine close enough to center I couldn't see it affecting field performance, cone crosses centerline pretty well) and yeah takes a minute to set the focus and seems to want to be on the mag range you intend to spend most time at. It balances under the turret block at eyepiece edge(neutral), it's small and light and looks and feels much better on a lightweight slender sporter, love the reticle and everything else. Still need a few more hunts on it go through a few more conditions. but it's proven itself so far in the field and pretty happy, generally after a few seasons I come to final conclusions, I don't foresee any issues, as Tom Cruise said 'it's looking good so far'.
It's pretty remarkable how much scope is packed in that tiny and compact nx8 dmx, feel like it's in a class of 1, certainly in a class of 1 for my wants on a very light nimble sporter, as a gp do all, everything else so much bigger, longer, heavier to get similar feature sets and qualities. Love that it exists, well done Nightforce. More of that please, lower mag, capped option, great reticle, give us more stuff like that, maybe some fixed powers, maybe some mpvo up to 42mm using all the same stuff on that little nx8 including the compact lightweight design. Oh, and get it to .1 mil/click pls
