Currently have a modified Burley. Lightweight, bounces like a rubber ball and is noisy. I’ve looked at a cpl, Burley Coho and Quietkat but wondering if there’s something else out there I haven’t seen. I’m a bit leery of the single track once loaded with an Elk. I saw one first hand, it was tippy and more than a handful.

I have the quiet kat trailer and while they advertise 100lbs I’d say 50-60lbs with all the weight as low as possible is about the max without it feeling like the trailers going to tip you over. However I’m still glad i never considered a two wheeled cart for the sake that it could get hung up in tight spots but i could be wrong

Check out the BOB trailers. I drug one on a 2 week mountain bike tour and it worked great. The off road model is good for up to 70 lbs.

We have a Thule Chariot Cougar 1, found it on Craigslist for a very good deal, complete with stroller and jogging stroller attachments, very easy to pull. Now can speak to the ability to put heavy loads in it as the most it's hauled is a 2 year old toddler on the sidewalk, but I can say it's quite and very well made.

I have used the BOB Ibex trailer for elk and deer hunting. It is a single-track design, which has both + and - (narrower profile, tracks behind bike very well, can go on narrower single-track trails, but is tippy when fully loaded). When loaded with elk or deer (or sandbags for training), they can be a handful, as you mention....also, the Ibex has a 70 lb rating.....

Here are a few I have put together very stable and with the hitch on the seat post it helps distibute the weight better than the hitch on the axle skewer. I bolt a large tote to the deck so no straps etc. and keeps gear and meat clean.
