Poor people problems while shopping on a budget haha.

So according to the bass pro website they will price match. And give an additional 5% to Pro Members (Which I am not). Christmas Eve, I called to confirm this and got a “yes that is correct” from one of the customer service people that answered the phone. Took a 2 hr drive to the store and the cashier would not price match even though I had proof of the lower price from Sportsman’s warehouse (not a clearance item or discontinued item). Went to the customer service counter and was told ONLY PRO MEMBERS get the price match. The only reason I went there was because I’ve been gifted Bass Pro/Cabela’s gift cards so I thought I’d use those to soften the expense right before Christmas.

Has anyone ran into this problem/issue where they wouldn’t price match? Either way I’m SOL since price has gone back to normal at both locations and on both websites.

It might be asked I was looking at the Vortex Viper Spotting Scope.

That sucks big time 2 hour drive on Christmas Eve based on phone confirmation, gift cards burning a hole in your pocket, and then bam, in store says nah, Pro Members only.

Bass Pro's official policy is price match for everyone local or qualifying online competitors like Sportsman's, but CLUB Pro Members get an extra 5% off the matched price. The phone rep probably mixed it up or misspoke, and the store folks stuck to extra discount as the member perk.

You're not alone happens a ton with big box stores; policies get fuzzy employee to employee, especially holidays. Plenty of folks gripe online about similar refusals or manager approval runarounds.

SOL now since the deal's gone, but next time screenshot the competitor price call ahead for manager confirmation. Gift cards still good for full price Vortex Viper spotter's solid glass anyway.

Both these stores suck so hard I try not to shop there. They have really terrible firearms policies that they don’t communicate which has cost me hours in wasted driving time. Unfortunately sometimes they are the only place to get certain items and can be more cost effective than the alternative.

Sadly Bass Pro bought out Cabelas a few years ago. Slowly the Cabelas are being re-branded as Bass Pro. The best thing they have going for them is the year round Veteran's discount.
But the Bass Pro veteran discount is nowhere as good as the old cabells veteran discount

To answer yer question, no. I’ve only tried the price match thing once with them, and it went quick and seamless. It was over the phone and not in person, because it was free shipping.

I would have called the main number that you called before and put the person on speaker phone and asked the same question.

But, yeah, 2 hour drive, we're you saving hundreds of dollars??

The next best answer maybe to get someone on the phone, ask if they do price match, if they say, yes. Tell them the story, see if they'll price match it over the phone and ship it to you for free.

I will not spend money at BP or Cabelas anymore.

When a company partners with another to offer something that isn't in the best interest of the customer under certain circumstances, I want nothing to do with them.

Did you show them their policy? It clearly states that they price match for everyone and offer the additional 5% to “club members”.

Sounds like you should have called corporate while you were at the store. You probably gave up too easily.

I did. Showed them both their website price match page and the sportsman’s warehouse price on the spotting scope. I brought it up many times quoting their website where it says “we price match our competitors pro members get the match with an additional 5%” but they still wouldn’t budge. Idk maybe because I showed up close to closing on Christmas Eve. I get it no one wants to work or has plans and family time to get to. So did we a were already running late.

It was just frustrating that they wouldn’t honor their own policy.

Send an E-mail to corporate if you still have a screenshot of the Sportsmas price. Call customer service.
Did you get the managers name who denied you of the price match?

Bass Pro is horrible and Scheels seems to be killing them. The local Cabelas and BP add an extra waiting day to the gun sales. They won’t match local prices and it seems they go out of their way no to help.

Seems like customer service sucks no matter where you go anymore. Theres a large local gun shop to me thats privately owned in northern MN that everyone likes, but my experiences with them have made me prefer Cabelas and even the Bass Pro version of Cabelas. At one point these guys were the largest Beneli seller in the country and they move a ton of guns, but they suck every time I try to buy from them. A guy just has to file away all of the different tricks they use to screw you and either not buy from them, or know its coming and be ready to stick it to them when they try. This post covid world really sucks compared to 10 years ago, nobody seems to care about the customer anymore.

I’m not the biggest fan of Cabela’s/bass pro. But the family will constantly give me gift cards to that store since they know I hunt/fish/camp so yea the gift cards have stacked. And I’ve been contemplating getting the spotter for a few months.

And I have emailed customer services
