Why 308 over a cartridge that recoils less, 6.5 whatever?

Versatility, cost, reliably good performance.

I just put together a Howa Superlite last year and chose a 308.

Loaded up some 110gr Barnes TTSX all coppers for deer 400 yards and in as a super light recoiling higher velocity load, and I can throw some heavier loads together for Elk or longer range shooting if I want. Just a lot of options with 308.
 
Anyone have any experience with the Hornady 110CX in .308win? I’ve got some for .30-30AI that have shot well, but I thought they might be a fun, fast, lower recoil option in a lightweight .308.
