As dumb as Russia can be, even they have learned from history.
Despite how terrible the US is at winning wars in other countries, you probably don’t have to be especially smart to realize that the direct invasion of a country which spaffs away more money on its military than the next ten biggest-spending ones put together would be a bit risky.

There are 3 F-22 squadrons and 2 F-35A squadrons in Alaska which together field over 100 5th generation aircraft. Russia is struggling with Ukraines air force which is mainly aged Soviet planes is disrepair does this sound like Russia would be a force to concern the most technologically superior force in the world.

You all are thinking 3-rd world war.
Putin and his minions already own a chunk of Kentucky and other states are lining up to sell out (literally sell) too.

Here's an example of modern economic warfare ... which I found researching the above claim of a trailer factory...

Ya that’s in a far off land with a bunch of roe. Coming to the back yard they might actually let the dogs of war off the leash. If a bunch of Ukrainian farmers with fake ak’s can hold them back I say 10 rednecks and a couple pounds of tannerite and a case of Budweiser would handle them.

Why would they try and take Alaska when they could just take Canada? Most of the population lives along the southern border so not many farmers up north to defend the country. I bet they could at least take the top half of the country without a lot of push back.
Most people laugh when I suggest this and say that the US military would step in to help but I’m not so sure they would with the leadership (or lack of) you guys have right now.
To be totally honest I haven’t paid much attention to the war in Ukraine, too much support for a country that used to be labeled as corrupt. My understanding is Russia is after the natural resources, Canada has plenty of natural resources and not much for a military.
The Canadian Rangers who still “patrol” the north were still carrying Lee Enfields up until a few years ago.

An invasion or attempt to seize Canada would have the same exact outcome as an invasion of Alaska. Canada is a NATO member so this is a WW3 scenario.

The reason people laugh at you for suggesting this is because it is indeed laughable. Russia lacks the airlift and sealift capabilities to even contemplate invading Canada. They have 1 diesel aircraft carrier that is non operation and lack the capacity to even fly paratroopers that far. It may be the case that their entire paratrooper corps was destroyed in the first days of Ukraine. They can’t move their armor there and, even if they could, all they have left are 60 year old tanks and there’s nothing in Northern Canada to destroy using linear armor tactics, which is all they have proven themselves capable of. They’ve drained many of the resources on Ukraine. Also, most anyone would wager that the Canadian military is a far better trained military than Russia’s. They might lack the numbers, but Russia’s linear battlefield has shown itself to be entirely incompetent in the face of chaos and disruption.

I might suggest that you start paying attention to Ukraine. If nothing else, it may set your mind at ease about a Canadian invasion: it’s almost impossible that it could achieved.

Putin is delusional and trying to cement some self conceived legacy. Take away his nukes and Russia would be nothing. When farmers are hooking tractors up to your tanks and dragging them away or just driving off in them, you suck plain and simple. As cool as Red Dawn was for some folks that whole scenario would ultimately lead to all of us dying from nuclear war or nuclear winter.

russia seems to be in uke to stay, our military/intel leaders said months ago that they russia was on the run...the same leaders who said the afgan army would last for years after we left afgan..the afgan army lasted only for moments. Very hard to get actual accurate intel on the situation in uke.

So my question to you and any man is what did you know about this topic before the TV told you to know about it?
And what else have you learnt?
And is your emotional position exactly what the TV tells you it should be?
I have been following Putin and Russia since Russia's invasion of Georgia. I also do not own a TV. Putin has openly stated he wants to restore the Russian Empire going back to 2001 or so. I do not think he will achieve it, but history has shown there is great peril in not taking such men seriously.

My positions have changed little in that time.

I thought his “any Western country that wants to face us on the battlefield is welcome to try” comment was hilarious. Take the nukes out of the equation, given the intel that NATO and UN now countries have on the state of Russian military, this would be over in 15 minutes. Given the reality that nukes are in play and most any exchange results in planetary extinction + the fact that Putin has actively threatened world stability with the use of nukes (vs deterrence) will ideally result in the eventual denuclearization of Russia (in addition to Putin’s dismemberment).

Thanks bro, my first post was a little tongue-in-cheek 😉

I wouldn't go so far as to say we're terrible at winning foreign wars. We just suck at these low intensity, non-conventional conflicts with politicians telling us we need to nation-build. But when it comes to no holds barred conventional warfare, we are the best and the Ivans know it.
