Adam Greentree Invasive Species

We are allowed to salvage road kill up here. and there aren't very many that go to waste. But we generally only get 1 deer tag a year so maybe people are willing to spend the extra time to get a free deer or 3...
How many tags can one get in your neck of the woods? that might be the difference.

3 bucks and several does.

I have shot coyotes before. Maybe a half dozen in my life. Some to see if I could, some on request of a landowner. I don’t think I’d get any joy killing heaps of them.

Managing ecosystems is one thing. Getting off on the dirty work is another.

So you never celebrate when you kill an animal? Joy doesn’t have to be deemed a negative when you hunt. Many countries manage wildlife and have no requirement to take meat for certain animals. Based on the species, some people are ok with it while they aren’t for the other, even if both are invasive and it’s legal.

I’ll say I don’t follow Adam Greentree, I’m not a fan of the social media hero hunters but if it is legal I have no issue with what he did. If it is illegal then that’s another thing.

If that's what I think it is, they are a plague to US waterways.

Yup. That's a Bighead. We also have Common, Grass, and Silver.

I hear Bighead can be cleaned and eaten. They are in direct competition with Paddlefish. The others are a challenge to clean and eat.

Yes I do celebrate, but I think you’re missing the nuance here. I might get excited shooting one or two of something in a day. But shooting one or two hundred of something, I would find no joy in that. And I propose than anyone that would is a little sick in the head. Glad to see above that at least some get no joy in doing it.

So I didn’t read the original thing posted by Adam, did he say he gets off killing, I’m not sure where the original idea of getting off or joy came from. It’s never joyful to take a life but for management purposes which is all we do when hunting or when there is an open season with no requirement to take any part of an animal is legal in order to control them, I see tons of guys posting up all their coyote kills with excitement and it doesn’t bother me at all because they are controlling a population, I think maybe people want everyone to be sad, if we were all that way there wouldn’t be any hunting.

I’m not saying one should get excited about the act of killing but I would say we all enjoy it or we wouldn’t hunt. How many post picture here and on social media of game killed? How many here post their coyote counts etc.

Truthfully to post about any kill, one is showing joy and quantity isn’t relative a life is a life. I value our wildlife but I don’t put a Disney persona on them, wildlife needs managed and kept in check, certain animals are a good source of food, others such as rats, prairie dogs, coyotes etc are not.

I don’t judge another country for determining what is and isn’t a required source of food vs needing to only be controlled based on species. I don’t look down on people that are excited about hunting as long as it’s done legally and I don’t think anyone enjoys taking a life but everyone on this forum gets joy out of hunting which includes killing animals.

I mean I’ve never seen a guy get such joy out of killing as Fred Eichler, he dances around and screams like a little school girl every time.

Wonder what became of the meat from all the critters he killed here last year? I doubt he’s paying to ship it back to Australia. His number one concern seems to be killing stuff to promote himself, it’s no surprise to me he’s letting so many animals sit

While I’m not going to pass judgement on Adam because it’s a different country and a different ecosystem that I don’t pretend to understand, I have often pondered the fate of the kills of many instagram and YouTube hunters. They seem to harvest far more meat from the landscape in a year than several families could hope to eat.

I personally only kill a couple deer a year because that’s what my family can go through. I can’t imagine killing multiple elk, a couple pronghorn , one or two deer , a black bear and maybe a moose or sheep to top it off. Because that’s what Instagram makes you feel like you need to do every year.Anything less and you might loose your UA or first lite sponsorship.

You don’t think anybody takes the meat from him?

I think the biggest difference is SO MANY buffalo are needing to be culled and there are so FEW hunters that it the numbers just don’t work if you’re taking out the meat as well. I think that point is lost on a lot of people. In those remote areas it would be harder to pack out an entire buffalo than elk here.... But it doesn’t change the fact that those remote areas need Buffalo taken out too

I think it’s jist what he does man. He structured his life owning a business that he gets to travel the world and go hunting. I might agree with you about getting likes and what not, but if I could I might travel and do the same. (Who knows though we already live in the greatest country for big game hunting.) can’t say, not in his situation
I’m guessing someone probably did, but sure seems to me that again one of his big motivations is self promotion and likes

I get the invasive species argument but there isn't many if any hunters down under that would do away with all of these invasive species if they could. It's no different than hogs in Texas or anywhere else. Everyone talks about how destructive they are but the majority of hunters would crap their pants if somehow the hogs actually did disappear.

Here's one for the MINORITY, then! I wish they were all gone!

I would hope he followed the law and donated the meat.

I'm not sure what you mean but, wild hogs are what I was referring to in the USA. I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep if they went extinct.

Food banks will gladly take any meat more then your family will consume.

Well isn’t that true of anyone making a name in the industry through social media, even rokslide? People don’t post picture of all their hunts for themselves. Seems people get hung up that some are more popular then others but in the end it’s all the same. Doesn’t bother me at all unless they poach.

I'm in the perfectly edible camp haul it out. Now, if someone credible tell me there's a NEED leave meat out there to feed the habitat, I'd consider accepting the other side
