I'm a Tikka guy but I'm also a buy cheap shit that works guy. You can get Ruger American Predator Gen 1 6mm Creedmoor for less than the price of a barrel. Mine shoots exceptionally and I'd buy another one today. They are still available and 2 guns is always better than one... 😉

I’m in the same boat Jay! That’s what I did! My Ruger American Predator in 6 Creedmoor is an accurate little gun and stuff keeps dropping with it.

I’ll look into those. I did a bit of reading but I have not found a solid evaluation. I know the gen 1 was accurate and I sure hope the gen 2 is just as good. Thanks!

Nothing earth shattering, just standard operating procedure for the 243 at this point but a meat doe and a cull
buck at 157 yards and 90 yards with Berger 105 vld’s at 3080fps muzzle velocity. The doe was broadside with quarter size exit and about a gallon of blood painting the ground for her 30 yard dash. The buck was quartering to and I didn’t find an exit, dropped on the spot.

You might research feed issues in that model and caliber before clicking the order button. I have a thread or 2 on here about my experience, and after diving in I realized I wasn't alone. Best of luck.
My RA in .308 fed like crap and I couldn't stand that "zipper" noise with the action. Accurate for sure, but between these function issues and the "accu-trigger" I'd not buy another one. Tikka trigger and function is superior in all areas.

I’ve had 7 Ruger Americans at this point, of differing calibers. 3 of the short actions had rough feeding/ftf problems. A call to Ruger’s customer service line, and they sent me different mags (free). All 3 feed perfectly with the updated mags. Two 6.5 creedmoors, one 308.

Three 60# hogs. The first, broadside shot behind ear dropped DRT. The second, running, broadside into forward chest dropped, kicked a few times and was DRT. The third, running, took one to the chest and one to the neck and dropped, kicked a few times and was done.

I wish that had worked for me. Sample of 1, but I sent it to them 4 times for their techs to address it, and after that they sent me both bottom assemblies new with mags. Neither the AI or rotary fixed it, it was about a 50% jam rate with Hornady factory ammo.

Do you still have it? Did they send you a new stock? Sounds like there was a stock issue with inlet hight.

I don't, I sold it locally under full disclosure. I'm pretty sure you're correct though. I made some aluminum shims and found that at about .040" thickness (IIRC) it wouldn't jam anymore, but if the mag got manipulated and the rear came down, the bolt would pass over the next round. There was a fine line with the tolerances, possibly an inlet angle : feed ramp issue?

They sent me videos of their tech running the bolt at Mach Jeebus and firing the 12 function test shots in the test facility with seemingly no issues. I told them to have him run it like an 11 year old girl that will be shooting the gun and it will jam, or eject one that he's chambered and show the polymer tip in the video, because it will be smashed. They offered neither.

I was going to say that if you still had it, I would send you a known good factory stock with rotary mag and bottom to try and get it to shoot or buy it from you and put it in a different stock to see if I could get it to work.

Yeah I had my fill, I was extra upset because it shot lights out. Much appreciated though! 🍻
