Finally got to use the 130gr TMK here that ViperD and I loaded.

96 lb white-tailed doe.

50 yard shot, front heavy run and then a slide around 60 more yards.

Here's a 109lb white-tailed doe, 130gr TMK, another 50ish yard shot, must have pulled it, it was broadside, not sure how it exited so far back like it did unless it changed direction in the body cavity.

This deer ran a 50 yards, tried to do a belly flop under a fence and hit it, and then must have jumped over it and landed in a bush and didn't get up. It was hard to make out what was transpiring based on hearing it and not seeing it.

Wow that’s fast. My 16” with imr 4350 at the same charge weight is 2620fps

I know H and imr are not identical but they are quite close
Hi, I was loading with ViperD, we are at sea level, I wonder if that is what makes the difference.

I haven’t used my 6.5 on anything but steel yet…. Still trying to decide what my max range should be on an elk with it to be ethical. It’s an awesome shooting rifle though!

6.5 Cm 139 Scenar at 2790
I shot my antelope buck at 328 yards, bullet entered lower chest cavity, caliber sized entry in center of a rib, top of heart shredded, lungs liquified, golf ball (maybe slightly larger) exit out the ribs and upper offside leg. He hunched up stumbled ten yards and tipped over.

One of my buddies botched a shot on his buck with his 300. Broke the on side leg below the vitals, I set him up with my gun for a follow up shot 475. Hit mid body but far back. Buck bedded immediately and stayed bedded long enough for him to walk up and finally finish it. He didn’t gut it, but found the bullet in the offside hide.

Another buddy used my gun to take a doe at 230 yards. Slight quartering away. Hit 4” behind shoulder and exited at about the diaphragm. Caliber entry, mush for lungs and quarter sized exit. She didn’t act hit but I heard it connect. She ran 75 yards, stood for a minute an tipped over.

Most of these are on par with what’s been reported for the Scenar/otm bullets. A bit delayed expansion and good penetration. They definitely get the job done but I think more rapid expansion would result in quicker kills in some situations.

I have a gun that shoots those 136 gr Scenar-L really well. But I just don’t like having a 4-5” neck before the bullet upsets. That’s half a deer chest cavity. Too tough a bullet for game and too expensive for practice shooting.

I just bought a new 6.5x55 tikka because the dealer could not move it and since I am a reloader it just makes sense. I am still working my way through this thread.
However, should I be looking at 130 class or 140 class bullets with this cartridge? It’s a 1-8 twist. I’v got Lapua brass and dies on the way. But, I’d like to order some bullets in the next couple of days if possible.

I’ve had great luck with 140 class bullets out of my cm. I have one box of Scenars left to go through, then I think I will try some 130s just for fun. It’s probably personal preference more than anything.

Bro, do you even Rokslide? 😂

Maybe this is a bad idea since I wouldn't have to buy a stack of 130 TMKs...

Anyone switch from H4350 to Staball 6.5? If I can push the 140 type bullets a bit faster that'd be a decent alternative. Recoil is pretty manageable as this is in a bravo anyways and right around 10lbs all setup so I'm not super worried about the slight increase. I've got 140 Elite Hunters, 143 ELD-X, and 147 ELD-M all available. Velocity is actually comparable for all of them w/ 42-42.2gr of H4350 around 2600 fps MV. I have more H4350 than Staball 6.5 but I'm sure I could trade a bit.

Then I can save the H4350 for whenever Tikka releases a 6CM and the rok stock is available (See, I rokslide a little bit at least lol).

Corn is getting harvested soon here so I will be able to shoot at the house again within the next 2 weeks or so. Need to install the UM rings (rokslide is expensive now that I think about it...) and start shooting again after that.

I've shot around 1200 140gr Barnes Match Burners with Staball 6.5. All loaded with my RCBS uniflow, I used to check weight on every 10 rounds, but I only check every 50 or so now, its always within .1gr. Shoots right around an inch in my CTR, and had an SD of 6 last time I checked with my magneto speed.

How's velocity compared to H4350? Or what velocity you getting in your rifle? Barrel Length?

All this is just splitting hairs but with the ability to shoot a lot easier coming up again I usually start tinkering a bit...

Haven't used h4350 in 6.5, but I'm getting 2640 from my 20" barrel. Haven't loaded up to pressure, so I'm not sure how much more I could go for, but I'm about 1 grain shy of book max from Barnes data I think.

I’ve been shooting with staball in my creedmore and been getting about 2700 from a 19” barrel at book max under 147 eld. Like mentioned before it meters great.

Another one for the 6.5 creed this morning! My boy spotted the buck himself and decided it was the one he wanted. One shot with a 147 eldm. Muzzle velocity about 2714 fps.

Here's another 130gr TMK white-tailed deer doe. 87 lbs, seemed heavier.

50 yard shot, doe ran about 60 yards thru grass to cover and died.

Sierra 130gr tmk
43.5gr H4350
2795 fps
