A good widgeon hunt today with a surprise eurasian and one of the prettiest drakes I've shot in a long time.

This is such an epic hunting picture that could never be dublicated! There are extreme Halloween decorations going on, there’s 5th wheel campers & a huge group of buddies slamming roosters….looks like even a few daughters & wives killing birds….Then on top of it the photo bombing elderly Beagle that takes credit for the harvested mayhem……
Love This Picture…..!
It was a great hunt. The beagle finds birds like no other. She’s not fast but she doesn’t miss many. 😂 it was a buddies family and work hunt.

sorry to ask, but eurasian ? thanks
Eurasian widgeon. Closely related to the American widgeon in the second photo, Eurasians are rare visitors to North America. This bird was most likely hatched in NE Asia, crossed the Bering sea at some point and mingled with American widgeon in Alaska over the summer, then migrated south with a group of them this fall. I live in a major wintering area for American widgeon in the pacific flyway and these aren't unheard of but they are extremely uncommon. Of the roughly 2000 widgeon shot on an area wildlife refuge each year 1 or 2 of them will be Eurasians.
