20” 7mm Rem Mag, suppressed????

I’m planning to have him chop thread and cerakote in one go. I’m on the fence about cerakoting the bolt though. At this point I’m not planning on fluting anything unless someone convinces me otherwise.

Ceracoating bolts and inside the action only makes a Tikka function worse. Do not do it. Nitride only if you want corrosion protection.

I had a Tikka action and barrel completely cerekoted in E Series cerekote vs. H. The E Series goes on thinner. I do not notice any diffetence from my factory Tikkas in cycling.

Thanks for the reply. I bet it looks nice with it. I’m gonna take the safe route and save a little money. I would hate to mess up my buttery smooth action.

I have tikkas with unmodified bolts, some with just fluted, and some that are fluted and cerakoted using the thinner cerakote. None have the inside of the action cerakoted though.

The un modified bolt is the smoothest, the fluted second, and the fluted and cerakoted third.
I like the look of last one and it’s still pretty dang smooth overall. Running modded bolts is personal preference, might drive one guy nuts and another guy might never notice. If hunting in extreme weather I’d agree with form. Run it factory form or nitrided.

I fluted the bolt, didn't cerakote it but did cerakote the action... if I could do it again I'd do the same but not flute the bolt. I was a little concerned about cerakoting the action but the bolt is just as smooth as before... not sure that would be the case if I had the bolt itself cerakoted.

I do wish I had nitrided over cerakote. I've had no issues but might end up spending a little more for nitride on the next build. Seems to be a little pricey compared to the cerakote, but I do understand good stuff isn't cheap and cheap stuff isn't good. Balling on a budget is rough...
