Just curious if anyone has experience running the 7mm Backcountry in 16.5" or 18". I am ready to pull the trigger on the barrel and curious if anyone running a 16.5" wishes they went with an 18" for noise when suppressed. The rifle will be suppressed 100% of the time with a Diligent Defense Enticer S. Velocity from the 16.5" meets my needs so no concerns there.

I have an 2506 that is just daring me to 7mm Backcountry it. I am debating on the barrel question myself. I think with the numbers I am seeing from people online 16 is the way to go for me. 16 inch barrel in the MDT HNTR 26 with folding stock. Thing makes me drool.

Do it!

It is not going to work. It is a Savage Axis action. Not what I want for an action. I will end up buying an Aero Ultralite. Holding off until next year. Jan should have new information drop for Federal. I expect to see 300 Backcountry. It will be 300 Winmag performance or 300 WSM performance out of short barrel. That is my guess. That would also be hard to pass up. I am an American and we love 30 cals.

Any other rumblings about a 300 backcountry? I just purchased an XLR folder and was going to go 300PRC, but now thinking a short barrel 300Backcountry would be awesome (I have a non-folding CF Stock 280ai I just built last year).

I bought a Savage 110 16.5” 7mm BC for “funsies.”

175 Fusion - 2802.4fps
155 Terminal Ascent - 3025.8fps
170 Terminal Ascent - 2884.3fps
168 LRX - 2907.8fps
195 Berger - 2704.8fps.

This was all suppressed with a CGS Hyperion-K.

I’m build a .270 Bergara b14 that will be Rebarreled into a 7BC by Hill Country Rifles.
I’m getting a #3 sporter fluted blank from Preferred Barrel Blanks and I settled on 18” finished length.

I think it’s a great compromise between velocity and length.

Have a 16.5 here.

Speeds are great compared to load data 20” claims. Don’t remember off the top of my head but 170 TA were in the mid 2900’s and 155TA was a bit over 3k which is plenty fast.

No first round pop that I could tell. Surprisingly quiet with a scythe TI.

Recoil is light on the shoulder but it is very jumpy. Adding a Bravo brake to see if that helps.

Nice compact setup. My scope is a brick. Could probably shave almost a pound with a different scope but it’s what I have at the moment.

Gun: Ridgeline FFT
Stock: Mesa precision

My first venture into 7BC. overall pleased since the lightly used price I paid was a steal.

How is the accuracy on yours? from most of the videos I’ve seen guys shooting them accuracy is not the greatest

I would say my groups are great. Had them down to .52-.6ish with 4 shot groups lol. It doesn’t like the 155TA so much. Shot 170TA and 175FT well. Shot 168’s the other day. Shot great. Haven’t measured them yet. Targets are in the garage. Just been too busy lol.

My first carbon barreled gun. By no mean is it a PRS rifle. I’ll shoot a group at “hunting speed” then let it cool off for 15 or so minutes while my buddies shoot.

Last time I was out had it ringing 4” plates at 500 yards like it was nobodies business with the 170’s.

My local range is a damn wind tunnel most days. Hopefully in the next few weeks the winds will calm down. It’s pretty annoying. I know wind don’t affect bullets much at 100 but it sure as hell shakes you and your setup. Not the most ideal shot group conditions.
