Yeah that's why I like them too. Although I did have a Ruger 77 MKII come open on me in thick brush once. I'm not sure how. A bolt locking mechanism has nothing to do with "safety" for me.
There are subscription services that analyze draw odds, trophy quality, etc. I haven't used them, so I can't tell you much other than that. I'm sure others on here will chime in, though.
If I were planning a June trip to western MT, I'd pick a tent that I could sit with a chair inside. That country can get lots of rain that time of year, and laying on the ground for hours gets old fast.
The biggest problem I run into is not the jacket. I've used several combinations over the last 10 years or so. Regardless of jacket, it's your feet or legs that will get cold first, and those are much harder to deal with in comparison.
