Looking for something with tactical turrets, in the 4-16x50 range. Zero stop not required. Interested in the old Nikon Monarch tactical, Burris xtr ii, nightforce shv, or bushnell elite tactical to name a few. Pm me if you've got one you want to move.

Are they that good? Scared of trying an "off brand" I guess. I see they are $599 on Amazon though. I've been kicking around some of the Bushnell Elite Tactical scopes as well.

You can buy straight from SWFA's website. They run sales every so often. I like mine. I've never heard anything bad about them.

A little history on the SWFA. They were originally made by Tasco and spec'd for a Navy contract for the SEALs. They were sold commercially as the Super Sniper. Glass was spec'd out of Japan. 15 years ago, the SS was the go-to entry-level tactical scope. Tasco later sold the design to SWFA, hence the "SWFA SS" moniker on their website.

I've only had experience with a Tasco model that I bought in 2003. The glass is passable, but I've also become a bit spoiled by my current optics...Premier, Leica, Steiner, USO, Zeiss, Swaro, Razor HDII. The scope tracks well, although the clicks are a bit mushy. By all accounts the SWFA is at least as good as the Tasco models, so they may have improved the turrets over my scope.

If you're just looking for something to getting you out shooting, then you will likely be happy with an SWFA. I would NOT pay $600 for one, though. In that price range, you'll be better off picking up something slightly used and a little higher quality. Be patient and check the Optics for sale on Snipershide, regularly. Good luck!
