264 will burn more powder, shorter barrel life and be harder to find reloading components for. It will have a higher BC but out to about 500 it's won't make that big of a difference.

The 25/06 is built off an 06 case which is a proven shooter. In a pinch you could resize 270 win brass, if you reload. Way cheaper to shoot and find factory ammo for.

Either round will kill fine if you put it where it needs to go. If you are going to shoot more than 500 the 264 gets the nod. Other than that get the one you want.

25/06 for the win!!

Honestly tho I think the real reason 6.5 is getting love is because it's a new niche to sell to. I'm still hung up on 30 cal magnums but that's because having a ****off gun in bear country is imperetive. At least that's what I tell myself.

next rifle will be a fast twist 6mm of sorts. 105 bergers Kills everything in North America with ease and shoots lights out past where most real hunters should shoot.

6mm Remington - one of the best 6mm's out there. Now back to the original question, the 25-06 and the 264 Winchester are both excellent rounds. I have never shot or used the 264 but I have some experience with the 25-06 and it is a sweet cartridge. I say get both!!
