Just saw this as well. I have toyed with the idea of a new MR pack for a few years, it may be time to purchase.

I own a Dana Designs Bomb Pack, a MR MC Black Gunfighter 14, ASAP, 3 Day Assault, a Komodo Dragon , and, ... not a single Yeti product of any kind. Dana's been gone for a while as I understand it. I wonder if he's cooking up anything.

I recently bought a MR ski touring pack. Doesn't seem that this ski touring line has done particularly well breaking into the marketplace and has limited distribution. I have to imagine that line will be axed in 2025.

MR has fit a bit of a void offering solid packs at a more affordable price point than many of their competitors in the hunting, military/tactical and possibly wildland firefighter realm. These sectors seemed to be their bread and butter more so than recreational backpacking where there is stiff competition.

I think that with Yeti, you can expect to see MR as more of a lifestyle brand. Bring the packs up to a cost inline with SG, EXo, Kifaru and market them as must have accessories the same way a tricked out overland Jeep is not complete without a Yeti cooler strapped to the hitch haul. We'll probably see MR trash bags that strap on to the spare tire, Yeti Tumbler holsters. They'll probably keep the fundamental designs, but don't expect any further innovation.

I watched some videos on this and read some articles just last night, and from what I understand the Military and Fire pack lines will stay under the MR name..... its only the civilian and hunting lines that will migrate to the Yeti brand, they already sent a link to a new pack called the Bozeman.... its very close to the Catalyst design I carry everyday it just has more straps, and has a Yeti logo instead of MR.
Stay tuned I guess. 👍

I'm glad Dana Gleason made a pile, but I will never own a pack with the name Yeti on it, especially given it's Texas Co. trading on local names (insert vomit emoji here). They should have named that pack "Austin" instead of Bozeman... that way you can feel right at home carrying your $250 cast iron skillet in it while bike commuting to your part time sous chef job mandated as part of your trust fund.

I hear you, and don’t disagree.

I was never a fan of Yeti, and I have a few friends who work/worked at Mystery Ranch and they hate it. But, they also have said that working for Mystery Ranch wasn’t the same after Dana left and his kid became more involved.

Also, I listened to a podcast with Ryan Seiders who started Yeti with his brother. I’m still not a fan of Texas culture, and I think Yeti’s products are contrived and overpriced, but Seiders earned his success. Seiders started building rods at a young age because he loved to fish, and he and sold that business after a lot of hard work and dedication. I had a lot of preconceived ideas about who the owner of Yeti was before I listened to that podcast, but now have a lot of respect for the guy.

I’m still not a fan of Yeti, and anytime venture capitalists get involved with brand I think it’s the kiss of death, but I do respect what that Seiders guy accomplished and he seems like a pretty good guy.

Did you see the name badge on it? I’m surprised it’s only $50 more when they have $250 cast iron skillet
I follow and agree with your point...

But I came across Butter Pat a while back looking for "high end" cast iron cookware. And that's what they were going for before Yeti bought them out.

Decided it was dumb and that I'd stick with my collection of Lodge and Le Cruset.

When Yeti first acquired Butter Pat, they raised the price to $399. They had so much push back they must have decided to go back to the former pricing. Me, I just got a Stargazer 12" for $125 on a Black Friday Special.

I missed the $399

That's beyond laughable.

I have a number of Yeti coolers, and quite a few cups.

I don't get the people who fangirl the company... And I've definitely never wished my Mystery Ranch stuff was more like Yeti.
