Everyone gets bitter when someone else is making money. Don't buy if you don't like it!
Agreed, there are plenty of other products out there.
Over the years, Yeti has turned out products considered overpriced and trendy (agreed), and they get hate for it. I laughed out loud at the skillet, and see plenty of hipsters and soccer moms sporting their products.

I got my first Tundra in 2011 (still going strong after years of abuse) long before every cooler company made a rotomolded cooler and the majority of the outdoors community didn't know who Yeti was.

Continued to buy their stuff over the years when they were more outdoorsy and the Seiders were running shop.

Going forward, I'll continue to buy their products if I need something that will last for a long time, and expect excellent customer service if something goes sideways. Their CS hasn't failed me yet. If I need something more disposable, I'll go a different route.

For the record, I've gone cheaper, and tried soft coolers and other products from other (4 letter) cooler company, and ended up regretting it in the end. You get what you pay for., both in the product, and the warranty and CS.
Just my 2 cents.

I hear you, and don’t disagree.

I was never a fan of Yeti, and I have a few friends who work/worked at Mystery Ranch and they hate it. But, they also have said that working for Mystery Ranch wasn’t the same after Dana left and his kid became more involved.

Also, I listened to a podcast with Ryan Seiders who started Yeti with his brother. I’m still not a fan of Texas culture, and I think Yeti’s products are contrived and overpriced, but Seiders earned his success. Seiders started building rods at a young age because he loved to fish, and he and sold that business after a lot of hard work and dedication. I had a lot of preconceived ideas about who the owner of Yeti was before I listened to that podcast, but now have a lot of respect for the guy.

I’m still not a fan of Yeti, and anytime venture capitalists get involved with brand I think it’s the kiss of death, but I do respect what that Seiders guy accomplished and he seems like a pretty good guy.

Great post.

Considering I currently have hot deals on MR, I guess I should jump on the Metcalf now before they slap a yeti logo on it and charge double.
