So if the state takes tags they sell to you, and sells them to people who can pay a lot more for them it’s okay because the money goes to a good cause?

Is that string of words supposed to mean something? Who is taking tags away from people who have paid for them? Please enlighten me as to the great injustices that have befallen you for I have never heard of such a thing happening.

Nobody is patting themselves on the back tough guy. My entire point was that I believe most people feel and do the same thing I do: donate to causes they support whether or not they will ever get to kill the critter they are trying to get onto the landscape.

Makes no sense. I gave a dollar to St Jude’s at the grocery store checkout today too. Believe it or not people do care about things they don’t donate money to as well.

Tough guy? I’m not the one on the internet cutting down people buying MY WI deer tags or saying your welcome for offering them. Iv read and conversed enough on here to see your point of view.

I’m just sick or reading hunters cutting down hunters and the push for continued monetization of hunting. You act as if some of these guys are your enemy. And act as if it will never happen to you.

Nope. "Most people" dont donate a dime, or vote, or make their voice heard at meetings. Take away their incentive to care at all and that little bit of involvement gets worse.

Truthfully we all just need to take our atv/utv’s and recreational ride all hunting season, hunting is just too expensive but let’s still enjoy our public lands and do so night riding and early morning stuff, there’s no curfew for non hunters to enjoy public lands. Maybe we can get many more trails motorized as well. We can use our cameras to hunt.

During a task force meeting where they had a heated discussion about outfitter tags, pat crank said "wouldn't raising the special price by 50% accomplish the same thing without all the hassle?"

and here we are ....

The task force will look at the 50/50 reg/spcl allocations in Nov.

Now there’s an idea. Go set up camp in the highest point unit and hunt for days to get pictures of the biggest elk AND deer in the area and then spend $2000 on beef on the way home. Got to hunt the best spot in the state and guaranteed to come home with meat.

Part of me is happy to think my family or myself might draw a hunt we want to do sooner. The other part is disgusted with what is happening.

I would expect most people's wages aren't keeping up with inflation. Where will the hunter cut spending? If it comes to applying and buying a tag or donating to a conservation org I'm pretty sure I know what 99.9% of hunters are going to spend their money on. Or instead of staying at a motel they tent camp, don't eat at restaurants, don't celebrate their success at the bar, etc. A lot will still hunt, they will just cut spending at places that could actually use the money.

And it makes it that much more enticing to move to the state with the best resident vs non res benefits. And right now Wyoming is a resident hunting paradise compared to hunting there as a non res.

At this point I don't really care anymore. Stuff like this will benefit me. I don't feel like it's the right thing to do though.

I closed on a house in WY yesterday. It will be a couple years before I'm a resident there, but that is an obvious outcome for the state - more new residents.

I was thinking after reading some of the different things Wyoming has done in the last few years that maybe it's a government strategy to increase the population? Make it so enticing to be a resident with the resources Wyoming has. I don't quite wear enough tin foil to believe it but it did cross my mind.

Thanks, I have no doubt that the character of the state will change in the end. That saying about being careful what you wish for may apply to current wyoming residents in this situation.

I burnt antelope and elk last year. I hope I can get a fun deer hunt in before I am a resident to burn those points.

I'll probably keep applying in the special Elk at that price and traditionally, I've drawn deer in the regular if I wanted a tag, but my god, $1,200 for an antelope tag? Guess I better burn my goat points next year in the special and be done.

I feel the same way, i know a number of guys that will be done which will up odds.

I’ll pay the money and they know I will. That being said this is also ridiculous that a person can spend more money to have better draw odds like that. I could see going to some sort of System like az where certain draw tags cost more but not the same tag for different prices. It will always be viewed as a outfitter welfare as long as it’s done this way
