Elk next?
So in order for this lawsuit to work I'd suppose you'd need every unit to have enough point creep to be unobtainable in the draw with preference points. Has it reached that level yet or are just some units point creep so bad you can't catch it? If there are any units with low enough preference points to still draw then how could you make the case that preference points are are a totally worthless commodity being foisted upon the unsuspecting hunter?Thing is about lawyers, it’s their opinion, plenty lose on each side all the time, states included. I bet it would end up in a settlement and not go to court In the end, say $35 million the state pays back.
For the big 5 it is unobtainable now for all but .001% of pt holders for the next 50 years, complete guess on the percentage but it’s probably close. So in order for this lawsuit to work I'd suppose you'd need every unit to have enough point creep to be unobtainable in the draw with preference points. BTW I'm not pointing fingers, I'm just pondering the subject is all
I'm guilty of that, I am that guy. It's a viscous unfair circle, seriously! It seem's the same ones telling nonresident diy hunters to put up or shut up . You have to pay to play. Just send cash. They're the first to complain when some wealthy guy unloads his house in California for truckloads of cash and starts buying everything up in mountain states making the cost of living skyrocket for most locals to the point you are pushed out of the housing / land market.
If it turns out like it was here it'll initially help get the tags to residents and make lots of them feel better. If WYO goes like some of the rest of us with an ever increasing population the demand will continue to rise and the gains you made with 90/10 will eventually become moot and your draw odds will continue to plummet.I am a Wyoming resident and I don't like this. I think its messed up. I hate seeing opportunities go away and its a slippery slope. Once one thing goes away its a lot easier to take the resident opportunity away next. And besides, even though I have better odds and getting my sheep and goat tag, its hardly better odds at all and will most likely result in increased tag costs on my end.

Outfitters lease property and access from the big landowners. So its just the rich getting more money, thats all. Nothing to see here.I will never understand why outfitters are protected so much. And why states cater to them to protect their businesses.
I’m screwed with my sheep points but that one did make me lol.Did you just watch Erin Brockovich?
I definitely see a case for class action, if it loses ok but let the state defend it’s decisions and see if this falls in their favor, be very interesting to see which big firm wants innon a possible $50 million suit with thousands to jump on board.
Result of the taulman/uso lawsuit suing under dormant commerce clause that you referenced. That ship has sailed.
Suing a state for discriminating against nr hunting or allocations is going nowhere.
Why am i not surprised that wyo BHA leadership is involved in screwing DIY public land hunters while asking for their money.
