Quit whining and put the work in. If you want to be cheap, hunt somewhere else. Guys will spend $750 on a pack, $1200 on a bow, $1000 on clothing, $300 on boots, $2000 on binos and then complain about a $75 fee.

Not a great analogy, cause those cost aren’t the same as fee cost. Someone can’t resale their fees to someone, however, someone can resale those other items. Since it’s their wildlife that they’re so concerned with managing, they should have more skin in the game.

Look on the bright side, if you have a fishing pole instead of a gun you'll be able to keep yourself safe in the Wilderness in Wyoming and go there without a Guide.

You are catching me on tail end of my western hunting. Been on 3 trips, 2 DIY and 1 guided (due to point creep wasting couple years of time).

Might have 1 more trip in the mix. Yes, will be collecting WY points til then. Will be maybe 6-7-8-9 points in. At this point I see it as a cost of doing business - no way would I be able to go in 3-4-5-6 years if I don't have the points. So, it is either get em or don't have the option.

Nothing wrong with wanting to go hunting. Just plan it out and do what you can.

There's plenty of private land opportunity for those who want to pay to play. Public animals on public land shouldn't be pay to play.

I agree, If the funding has to go up, I'd rather see it in tag cost, than points and fees. points that may or may not ever result in a tag, or that could be lost if you go a couple of years and can't afford them.
Or in the instance of bonus point draws, one guy might draw out with only a few points in the game and another guy has 25.

Hunting draws is the only raffle where you buy a raffle ticket (application fees and points) and when you win you still have to buy the prize(tag)!

That's why it upsets so many folks - people with more disposable income will always do more/have more fun. Just a fact of life.

Public land blah-blah. That's the problem with so many folks wanting a socialistic society, everyone wants to take everything for free and without limit. Then the resource gets destroyed cause folks feel entitled - that they deserve stuff. Once you go from an existential behavior to a consumptive behavior, there needs to be rules, regulations, and enforcement cause left to man's natural devices, folks will strip every ounce of "benefit" and walk away bitching that they didn't get their fair share.

Anyway - making sure folks don't strip the landscape bare costs money and someone has to pay. The hikers? No, they don't consume the animals, the hunters do.

That was points, application fee, hunt lic of $156, PIW mule deer chance, Silver State lottery chances on all species. Now thats a fair fee. And the permits are half or less than Wyoming if successful.

Not to defend Wyoming and assuming you’re nonresident in both states, your chance of drawing a Nevada tag is slim to none and slim just left town

Edit to add- currently in Nevada with 20 points if you’re applying for early or late rifle, you only have above 5% chance in 2 hunt areas and those are 6.3 and 5.7%.

For mule deer you start to have some realistic options in Nevada around 10 points. For antelope you’re not even in doubled digits odds until 20 points.
I guess the 141 hunt area hits 11% and 15 points.
