Kinda wish this case could have been run through the courts. It needs to be figured out once and for all.

The civil case if it stays in federal court is where it will be figured out once and for all.

We will see if Mr moneybags has the stones to stay the course.

Wish I had time to celebrate this great outcome, but there is a lot more to accomplish before a stake can be driven into the heart of this. Public land hunters took a good first step...thanks to all that contributed to the GoFundMe.

I'll be quite honest, after hearing the judges jury instructions I was expecting a guilty verdict.

I have to say, though, I enjoyed listening through attorney Ryan Semarads closing arguments, though. I'm a legal layman, but I thought he was quite effective.

Not really. What if the landowner doesn't even know where the corner is? They can't say you're trespassing if they don't know exactly where the property line is.

It's one thing to disagree with the law, but that has nothing to do with the landowner or law enforcement. That's a disagreement that should be taken up with the state legislature......not after the fact with the participants of this case. The case itself should be black and white based on the law and violation of said law. That's different than how much one approves or disapproves of that law.

Oh, I am very well aware of what I wrote after listening to myself. There is common sense encroachment and plain dumbass crybaby BS. This one is a crybaby dumbass load of BS.

Also, just so you know, private citizens don't enforce the law.

2 elk and a deer. I've been on several calls with these hunters, all salt of the earth gentlemen who just wanted to hunt public land.

The fact they had the nerve to stand up for what was right, not just everyone is willing to put themselves out there, they have my respect.

Big tip of the hat to all 4...

Such good news. I was really worried after hearing the closing arguments…the prosecutor made a compelling argument regardless of the complexities. Defense kind of rambled in my opinion.. but didn’t hear much of the other arguments.

Not true. Besides, what are the chances of a law enforcement officer actually writing a citation for trespassing, with no fence, no monument, and no other indication of where the property line is? Especially when the hunter in question could probably show a GPS track showing he was not on the wrong side of the line? Law enforcement officers also use GPS to determine where approximate property lines are. If that's the best you have to go by, that's what you go by.

Must be different in WY. In SD it is the hunters responsibility to know where property lines are located.
