2026 Snowpack thread

We had a very wet week here in North Idaho and it was welcomed.
It doesn't compare to the slow, time-released snowpack melt, but at least it alleviates any fire concerns for a couple of weeks. It was getting a bit scary for May, way too early for that.

Looks like Montana is next in line—wide spread rain the next 4-5 days, snow in some areas above 7000’.

Couldn’t come at a better time, June has been pitiful in regards to moisture (here we’re about 25% of normal for the month).

🤞

Can’t see the mountains yet, but guessing some of them are white. We’re closing in on an inch of rain in the valley, with possibly another 1+ inches in the next 24 hours. This would put us above normal for June, when just a couple of days ago we were well below normal 🤞

Couldn’t have come at a better time!

That system coming from your North is solid. I hope it makes its way to SE Idaho.

Send some of that moisture to CO and UT. We havent had any real rain west of the divide for 5 weeks. Things are going up in smoke...

I was walking in 4 to 10 feet of snow above 6500’ coming down from a lookout in North Idaho last Tuesday. Don’t think it melted a whole lot this weekend up there for sure and the lookout said only about 4” of new snow fell.
