Wod

10 tough miles today in deep snow. We spotted about 20 elk yesterday on the opposite of the drainage and about 3 miles away as a crow flies. We figured out how to get there and hiked about 2 miles in the dark sitting on the meadow; today not an elk came into it. We went way up the ridge into some nice country, but I think just too much snow. We looped back to the meadow we sat on in the morning and sat on it until dark and finished the day like we started- in lamps. Such is elk hunting.

Good deal. You guys have been laying them down left and right. I guess there's no meat crisis at your house this year.
It’s been a good fall. With the wolves we’ve raised, the meat crisis is usually freezer space.

Today I took the wife and youngest out for a half day whitetail hunt. 4mi, 600vert and 2 little bucks. No shooters though. Cut some meat this afternoon.
Work and PT for the next few days then we’ll try to find some more good bucks.

I had one of my best wrecks ever hiking about a week ago. I felt okay… then benched last Thur. Could barely get out of my cot Fri morning. Felt like I took a Mirko Cro Cop left kick to the upper ribs. Appears to be healing now, but I’ll wade back in slowly.

Nice sunny, cold day. I’m going to go recon a couple spots for mule deer and cut out a road that got blown in during the last storm so we’re ready to hunt with the family the next 3 days.
