In someone's favorite spot
tough three days of hunting; 31 miles and ~3000' of gain- that doesn't really tell the whole story as we were hunting in 12"+ of snow and single digit temps- I'm a whooped pup!

Congrats! I had a hunt like that 3 years ago in NW Colorado. 15" on opening day and never above 15 degrees. That was - as you said - a real workout. Love the sled. A few places I went I was thinking had I killed one, I would go to town and buy a cheap sled for just the same thing!

Congrats on the elk @mtwarden !

I headed to upper upstate New York on Thursday afternoon to try and track a buck. Hiked 14 miles on Friday through some of the thickest snow covered spruce thickets I've ever seen, then pulled a double booter over the tops of my 18" rubber boots, soaking myself to mid-thigh. I finally made it back to dry clothes and the warm truck 2.5 hours after dark. The temperature was 22 and falling.

Yesterday I hunted the opposite side of the same road. It wasn't near as thick at the lower elevation. I found a buck track 200 yards from the road, tracked him for 7 miles without ever laying eyes on him, then hiked another 2 miles back to the truck and headed for home ahead of a blizzard that was supposed to hit the area this morning.

This hunt was humbling experience to say the least.

6mi and 2000vert with my youngest son looking for a buck for him. Passed on a small 4pt. Lots of sign the last 3 days, but we didn’t see too many. Gonna have to switch things up Wednesday. Been real cold, but high pressure and sunny. Fun weekend of looking for bucks.
