@mtwarden - Affirm. He’s rolling back down for a Hail Mary trip this weekend. Myself and the youngest were going to go with him, but one of the guys from his crew that is strong as an ox, but new to hunting, is going to go with him. We may just let the young bucks go for it alone.
Cool front finally on the way,, chilly 72 degrees. Took the new 1000g boots out for the first break in hike. The uninsulated Crispis are ready to go and need the break.

30 minutes at the football field walking on the bleachers with a 30lb pack after the morning hunt. It's the first cool front we've had, so I'm enjoying it. Probably won't hunt this evening though, I'm going to get the granddaughters and I think hot dogs and s'mores are on the agenda for tonight lol.

Some asked if my oldest son was going again for mule deer… He was gone for 27hrs. Shot a freak 6x9 in full velvet early yesterday. I should get better pics. He has nuts, so not a true stag, but something ain’t firing on all cylinders. Horns are still soft and took some damage after the shot. Heavy bases, super tall, long, long tops, narrow spread and a couple drop tines. Super cool. I have a good friend that is a taxidermist that is going to figure out if we strip it and repair, salvage the velvet, etc.
Guys would occasionally bring in some freakish deer to our regional office- full velvet in November, etc- some were true stags, some the biologists figured had damaged "goods"
