I just bought a prefit barrel and had it put on. It shoots the 108 ELDms very nicely
I wasn’t even really thinking deer, I’m thinking bear and elk for my daughter to have a rifle that’s hers. It seems like about a perfect cartridge for that (though I want one too, it would do anything I need a rifle to do)The majority of the fuds who buy rifles still think the 338lapua is the ultimate long range deer gun. They make fun of the hipsters and knowledgeable people who buys 6.5creemoors. The people at beretta are these same fudds. I wouldn’t hold your breath on a smaller factory creedmoor option aimed at deer hunter sales.
What oem mags do you use for Tikka 6cm with a prefit? The M+ mag that is used with the 6.5 cm is fine? The 6 Creedmoor is a bitchin cartridge for people who think about things the way many of us on this forum do but it hasn't really caught on with the masses like the 6.5. There has to be 20+ options for 6.5 creedmoor ammo at the big box store near me and not a single 6 creed offering. I've had zero issue sourcing factory ammo but it's just not as popular for mainstream hunters.
I just paid to have one chambered up for a tikka rather than waiting.

The normal M magazine works as well. What oem mags do you use for Tikka 6cm with a prefit? The M+ mag that is used with the 6.5 cm is fine?
Standard bolt face short action (.308, 6.5 Creed, etc). Swap your barrel and you’re off to the races.I've ever only bought off the shelf before, but interested in the idea of a 6 CM Tikka.
So - noob questions: what action does one need to buy? Do you need to do anything to the bolt? Cheers?
I see the same thing near me. Probably ten to one for 6.5 vs 6. Literally one type of 6cm and that was it, if at all
Thanks. I can't believe it's that easy, or that I hadn't asked before.Standard bolt face short action (.308, 6.5 Creed, etc). Swap your barrel and you’re off to the races.
A standard long action in something like 270 win would be easy as well. Could easily trade the LA bolt stop and magazine for a SA ones.Thanks. I can't believe it's that easy, or that I hadn't asked before.
Easy peasy, just standard bolt T3/T3X. My original 6.5cm Tikka T3X is now a 22cm, and I have a 6cm barrel waiting to go on it in about a month once the fall seasons are over. Just a barrel swap between each of them.I've ever only bought off the shelf before, but interested in the idea of a 6 CM Tikka.

It's just your standard Tikka prefit price. Something like a McGowan or x caliber (barrel nut only) starts off around 500$. Goes up depending what you want. Preferred barrels and PVA are also popular on here bc If you want 5/8 threaded preferred has the Tikka hybrid lite contour and PvA has the .750 taperless. McGowan can also do the preferred htbrid conour as a custom and of course UM has ace prefits. Helps to know someone with tools but most you can send in for removal/install. There should be some black Friday deals coming up but that also means longer lead timesWhat did it run you?
Awesome. Thanks for the info. I really want to build one with an 18-20” length and a folding chassis. I don’t have the luxury of running suppressed in CA. but would love a light compact build that still packs a punch and adjustable chassis for both of my kids to shoot with ease. It's just your standard Tikka prefit price. I agree the 108eldm is all you need. Luckily that’s the only thing for sale that I can find in stores. There are 108 ELDM and 95 LRX 6CM available everywhere. PERFECTION in a box. What else could you possibly want to shoot?
The LRXs at Battlehawk are less than $28/box. I don’t think you can find factory loads for 108 ELDMs or LRXs for .243 on shelves anywhere.
My 243 is limited by the factory mags so I’m no where close to the lands. I have not picked up a m+ mag yet to see if that gets anywhere close so possibly an option. If you are going to ream it out anyway I’d probably go 6cm for factory ammo options in a pinch. If you reload all your ammo and don’t buy factory ammo then it’s six of one and half a dozen the other.Thoughts on purchasing a 1:8 243 and using a uni-throater to lengthen the throat? Possibly take it to a smith and have them convert to long throat 243AI? I have a huge pile of 109 ELDMs I use in my 6GT.
Has anyone ever had a Tikka factory barrel reamed out? I could even to to something like a 6PRC and just steal a bolt from another gun.
Am I leaving anything on the table vs 6 creed?
I used the uni-throater with great success on a 300 WSM.
So you are saying that if you get longer mags you should be able to load the 243 long already at an appropriate place for a 109?My 243 is limited by the factory mags so I’m no where close to the lands.
