An 18" 6CM should be as fast as a 22" 243 Win. Would make a fine suppressed package.

That is right where I'm at!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then run the 95 grain TMK or LRX and just kill anything you've got a tag for! That is right where I'm at!!!!!!!!!!!!
What length and twist did you go with for the barrel? Who made it? Thanks! The 6 Creedmoor is a bitchin cartridge for people who think about things the way many of us on this forum do but it hasn't really caught on with the masses like the 6.5. There has to be 20+ options for 6.5 creedmoor ammo at the big box store near me and not a single 6 creed offering. I've had zero issue sourcing factory ammo but it's just not as popular for mainstream hunters.
I just paid to have one chambered up for a tikka rather than waiting.

Sweet. Gotta love Karl. Are you shooting the dtacs, TMKs or ELD-Ms?The 243 is a slightly bigger case than the creedmoor case. Creedmoor has longer throat that helps with pressure a bit. For all intents and purposes they should be capable of pushing the same bullets at the same speed with the same barrel length thus i wouldn't expect a 18" creedmoor to match a 22" 243's velocity at the same pressures.
To me the beauty of the 6 creedmoor is good factory ammo in 103-112 grain bullets seated where they should be that doesn't exist in 243. Yes, there are benefits to shoulder angle, chamber design, COAL with long bullets, etc but an 8 twist tikka 243 should be very close to on par for the guy who handloads only.

I have the same question. I want to rebarrel my supergrade Model 70 and it has the most beautiful bluing ive ever seen on it. That's about the only reason I haven't done it yet.Does anyone know how well a custom barrel can be blued to match the blued factory action? As I get older I want to deer hunt with a nice wood and blued rifle. A Tikka in 6 CM would be great.
Nope, haven't even loaded for it yet. Just shot Berger, norma, and barnes factory ammo.Sweet. Gotta love Karl. Are you shooting the dtacs, TMKs or ELD-Ms?
The cerakote mentioned looks alike a decent option...but I'm not sure it would be nice for a gloss or semi-gloss finish like a super grade or medallion.I have the same question. There is a high gloss version of Cerakote that may work if you really want/need gloss blued color. The cerakote mentioned looks alike a decent option...but I'm not sure it would be nice for a gloss or semi-gloss finish like a super grade or medallion.
I’d like to but a 1/8 twisted 243 take off barrel on the cheap and get it punched out to a 6prc.
I've been shooting one, and desperately looking for another....Hiding in corner clinging to my proof 6cm prefit lite contour they stopped making. Pretty sure I bought the last on when Stockys cleared them out last year.....love me a Tikka 6cm. This one is a backup.

I have a couple hundred of the LRX since my 6CM likes them. Never looked for the 95 TMK before.Let me know where you find those 95'ers......
