Will AI take over your current job?

I think AI, automation, and machine learning are going to radically change the way humans function. I don’t think it’s going to be as cut and dry as AI replacing jobs per se, although I do think a lot of jobs will be redundant.
I work in the civil engineering and construction world, in a technology company that is paving the way for a lot of this technology.
I think we are going to see the majority of machines on large earthwork projects and highway projects be autonomous in the next 5 to 10 years.
I think software is going to get way more simplified. Complex project management, estimating and design software will be able to simply do what you tell it. (Ie. Build me a road from point A to Point B)
I think it will be leveraged in health care, where you provide a blood sample for example, or take some sort of test or diagnostic, and the AI powered “health consultant” gives you an accurate diagnosis that’s based on the entire breadth of collected human knowledge and experience on the particular subject.
In many ways, I think it’s going to enhance and help the way many people do their jobs, but I do also think many will be quickly redundant. Fascinating times for sure
It's interesting to see all of the GPS grade units on machines now. You don't see any grade checkers out there in front of the blade any more. I think you will see a lot of engineering go this direction.
@gbflyer GPR has come along way, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to start seeing that incorporated into the cad/survey files and in the operating electronics of the machine.

Man, I wish AI would take over my job.. but until AI can go up and down a ladder all day and pull cable I’m stuck where I’m at.

Accounting, lawyers, investment bankers/stock traders are a few jobs I see that could easily be eliminated that AI could do better than almost anyone. AI will help out in manufacturing with 3D printing and overall machine efficiency. However we will still need people with hands on mechanical aptitude to fix things. Being a "jack of all trades" will become more valuable than knowing how to computer program (I think it is already).

A lot of the guys I work with are safe from Artificial Intellegence. Now, they should start checking the classifieds for work when it’s just Artificial Labor…

Until AI can paint a house I’m safe.
Also a house painter here but have you seen any of the new technology that is being experimented with using drones and spraying units? Amazing. I can see where the new technology could be utilized to direct drones/robots to do some manual labor and definitely sooner than we think. Think of just how amazing/crazy everyone thought that "The Jetson's" cartoon was and almost everything in the cartoon is now today's life.

I must say that I won't miss taking a ladder ride or scraping one bit!

I haven’t seen that, I’m all for technology helping me with a job though.
