I geek out on this being an off road Jeep guy. You would be amazed at how underprepared people are for being off road and away from "help". I have a quick spreadsheet check list that I print out before any trip just to make sure I don't forget anything. I do get complacent as I go out minimum once per week and usually have everything in there already; but for big trips like multi day camping/scouting/backpacking/hunting, I always get the list out and check it twice.
The biggest ones that are purely specific to a vehicle are the following...
.Tire patch kits and knowing how to use them
.Full size spare and check the air pressure on it
.Portable air compressor (my jeep has one under the hood)
.Tools to fix issues (hand tools, electrical bag, battery tools)
.Temp resistant 2 part epoxy for patching leaks
.1 full bottle of oil, coolant, power steering fluid, tranny fluid, etc. to get you out of bind.
.Spool of fencing wire and plyers (I've had to tie up multiple exhaust/suspension components with ratchet straps and wire.
.Good ratchet straps
.Extra water, extra extra water, extra extra extra water.
.Extra non-perishable food.
.First Aid Kit
.Extra fuel cans already full and ready
.Fence wire cutters
.Sawzall with metal blade and long pruning blade
I'm not a "prepper" really at all but my Jeep is ready to load the family into and get to wherever we need to get to. Cut fences, cut locked gates, etc. whatever it takes to get around highways and roads to get to safety.
I'll post up a screenshot of my full checklist later.
