What'a a good harness

I have the ultralight model from Hunter Safety Systems and like it. Here is the link to the newer model of it. Only thing I changed was I went with the rope style tree strap instead of using the webbing style that comes with it.

I've used the Muddy harness and it's easy on and easy off without getting tangled up.

I've moved to a rock climbing harness because I do not like the strap coming up behind my head/neck.

Same. I use a black diamond vario speed harness for similar reasons. It keeps the rescue rope low and away from my draw and I don't have to dicker around with getting it on with a jacket over it or under it or whatever. It goes on over my pants when I get to my stand, clip in, and up I go.

Is there a reason to use a full harness like a Muddy over a climbing belt or will either be good?

Climbing harness fan here. I wear an edelrid. They are lighter and more comfortable than a regular harness to me. You don't have a tail dragging behind you when you wear it and you can add a jacket or take a jacket off with the harness on. Only challenge i have found is its hard to pee with it on if it's cold outside.

Plus if you do fall the rope is in front of you so you can use it to pull yourself back up or cut it if you need to just climb down

Summit seat of the pants or petzl climbing harness for me. Depends what mood i'm in.

I have the same harness and like it a lot. I also run a rope lifeline rather than the tree strap. Very light, solid cobra buckles.

I use a Petzl Gym RC harness. No way I'm going back to a traditional harness until it's proven the RC harness is dangerous.

I use a black diamond alpine bod. I can wear the rock climbing harness all day in the stand or walk around with it all day and never know its there. I can't think of one single reason or benefit to ever using a full harness again.

Same here, you can get one for around $50. Get a 4' piece of used dynamic rope and use 1 wrap of electrical tape to keep it at your side so it's not hanging out front and it's just like a full harness, only better. Hey, if rock climbers use them they have to be good.

same for me. i'm on my 3rd season with the RC harness and would never think of going back.

Black diamond speed harness for me too..... three or four years using it now and I have no plans on going back to a four point harness.

Ok,I'm sold on the belt over a harness. If I fall will I be hanging upside down?

No, you won't. Ask most any Rock or ice climber and you see it is very hard to invert. I have taken a few falls in my RC and always remained up right.
With friends I demonstrated a slip off a platform and self rescues with a RC vs a four point harness. No comparison in my mind.

No you're not going to go upside down . I set mine up with so little slack in the system that if I fall I can just step right back on the stand

Guys using the rock harnesses... Any mods to be able to hang climbing sticks from the harness as you climb a tree? Do you connect twice to the front for a linesman belt, or are there harnesses that have attachment points on the sides, large enough to connect two linesman belts to. I usually have two if I am doing a hang and hunt to stay roped in and go around limbs.
