No they put them on it for treatment with severe cases. Drs in China are saying that once patients get to a point of needing treatment with a ventilator they aren't responding.

My SIL is a doctor here in the states and she has told me that so far, people over 60, that require a ventilator, are very unlikely to survive COVID-19.

Anyone heard if we have actually implemented the defensive production act?

I know it was invoked but haven't heard where it is actually being used or any corporations that are actually retrofitting to produce needed supply. I would think there is not a lot of downside if we can produce a bunch of this stuff before we actually need it!

Obviously too many members with no knowledge of medicine, no knowledge of how the ER triages and how the ER protects its staff.

If too many have no knowledge, what's the right number?

You feel very comfortable knowing you're right on medicine, politics and the medical knowledge level of RS members. May God bless you as you walk and live among the ignorant, have patience with us, may we attain your superior intellect before we pass to the other side.

Obviously I'm wasting your bandwidth. Now that's funny. BTW, TX Med Center, Baylor College of Medicine, MD/residency/fellowship, on staff 10 years and 20 years and counting in private practice, not up in some Ivory Tower pontificating. Working 60-plus hours a week. The picture guy, read the CDC guidelines yourself and get educated. "Yawn"...you obviously don't understand accumulation of data to make an fact-based conclusion...Yawn back at ya buddy. I'm so sorry to be wasting your precious Praise Trump time and bandwidth. The "name calling" and "calling people ignorant (TDS-too funny)" goes both ways.
Bless my soul!

I hope the corona virus doesn't kill as many people as medical professionals

I heard a business guy this week that said his American business associates that are in China have said that China is almost back to business as usual. The peak traffic trackers would substantiate that as well.

He went to medical school at Baylor I think my dog could get accepted into that program. He also can't correlate the high concentration of smokers to the infected in Italy.

I almost died twice at the hands of cocky, know it all, arrogant ass hat doctors. ICU for a few days with your wife and kids wondering if you're doing to make it, all based on doctor's mistakes will wake you up, thanks for posting that.

Attacking the President is stupid..
These mask we have are not doing a damn thing and are junk.
Blaming anyone for not having enough supplies is also dumb because all this shit comes from china and everything was shut down. Our suppliers could not get anymore product from china.
Also complaining not having enough ventilators is dumb when has a hospital ever needed this many? And those numbers posted above show they very few people have it, so how many of those actually need ventilators?

If the state of Florida has 659 cases I'm sure they have way more ventilators than that..
Guess we will see what happens but so far I am not seeing anything.

Woman on Fox news upset we did not "ramp up production" on mask etc.. once again supplies are not available because they all come from CHINA!!

South Korea was somehow able to be prepared.

It will be interesting to see if China has a resurgence of infections as they lift restrictions more, thereby necessitating closing things down again so that the new infections come in waves, allowing medical resources to keep up.

For those complaining about how the limited tests are being used, how would you do it differently? This is something completely new. I have never in my 25 year career seen the feds and locals working together in this fashion to make the best out of a tough situation.

We have had deadlier organisms, and very contagious organisms, but it looks like nothing both this contagious and also somewhat deadly.

There is no hydroxychloroquine left in our area at the pharmacies at this point, after the past week's revelations.

For the jerks who laugh at those of us keeping a few months of toilet paper always on hand, and who mock those of us arguing against illegal imigration or keeping our own supply chains for essentials like food-farming/medicines/steel/etc. from going overseas, please use this as a learning experience.

We definitely have some things working against us with a virus like this (open society, a lot of chronically ill people who wouldn't be alive in other countries, etc.), but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

With the feds reducing regulations in a historic way, we will come up with some solutions. Hopefully, we have the ability to produce the things needed on a large scale, and haven't sent too much infrastructure overseas.

I’ve left this up as it’s (at times) been a good source of current info. I’m beginning to wonder when I see people calling others names if this thread has ran it’s course.

I’d personally appreciate if you kept it open, and us chuckleheads reeled it in. This is probably my most trusted consolidated source of real national info. I get local stuff fine but it’s not like CNN or anything else is really useful.

I get what everyone is saying about the overseas manufacturing. The elephant in that room is the EPA. We can outsource, get it cheaper and pretend we aren't part of the pollution problem all at the same time.

You'd first need to ascertain how many applied to determine a ratio.

No Spock, you don't.

To be more direct, VERY few folks who frequent this sight could have gotten into Baylor Med school had they tried and it is silly to make jokes to suggest otherwise.

P.S.
All of us would be a lot better informed by watching the weekly national briefings or some local stations, or reading the cdc and local health dept updates, rather than watching the blatantly dishonest spin or ignorant regurgitations by the national media.

I am seeing 5 cases of anxiety to every case of possible mildly symptomatic corona virus infection at this point...who for the URI symptoms we are telling to go home and monitor for any worsening.
