The testing is terrible and hasn’t been trustworthy since the start. The Protocol had to be re-trained here in Colorado so I bet many of the initial tests were negative by way of poor protocol. Then they quit testing and now are only testing certain groups. Crazy. The confirmed case count is nowhere close.

Anyone heard about the gun ownership questionnaire that accompanies the covid 19 test? Maybe they will be taking guns from those testing positive?

Google "gun ownership questions on medical forms". I dont know why they are asked but it appears to be a thing.

trust me, I get that.... life is precious, yet day to day life if full of hazards.... your friend's wife is a tragic freak thing, an unlucky outlier. we pretty much ALL know someone who was healthy but died of something, i know lots of them.... that's not my point, wasn't trying to sound cold, it's an honest question.

times like this we either have to act scared or offend people, there is no in between it seems.... we cannot have an objective conversation, because you're bound to offend someone.
I was not offended. I posted to make the point that a 1.3% death rate or whatever it is right now sounds small. Its easy for all of us to toss those stats around like its no big deal. Until that 1.3% includes your friend or family member. Then 1.3% is unacceptable.

I agree, I stated that earlier in this thread... i'm on the same page there.... this whole thing just doesn't add up.... the stats vs the reaction, in comparison to other things we've gone through and go through annually.

small percentages don't matter until they effect you, I agree and am aware of that.... I just wonder what this would look like compared to things we don't think much of (as a whole)

This is the reason for the reaction. Italy has a low death rate with flu even with their age. Oct-Dec only 240 flu deaths, then in a few weeks 2500. So 10x in the same period of time. Hopefully 2 million don’t get it as did the flu in 12 weeks there and they get it under control. They are used to 5 people out of 100k, so not prepared for the numbers.

This virus seems to have mutated into 2 strains, S-type and L-type, the way I understand this if you get the “L” it’s gonna be pretty bad the “S” seems its not near as bad, heard about this today and found it here https://www.newscientist.com/articl...are-there-two-strains-and-is-one-more-deadly/

I wouldn’t believe anything out of China.

Also, I kinda stopped paying attention but wtf is going on? How bad is it out there? My neck of the woods seems pretty calm and our state has quite a few cases. People are staying in for the most part, lot of people just out walking the dog or running. I check the news and I’d think I was in a disaster movie or something. Am I missing something?

I think there will be a nationwide mandatory lock down/shelter in place starting next week, maybe announced Saturday.
Trump is not playing and even some of his democrat critics have praised his response. I am just glad that he won the 2016 election because we need a decisive and strong leader right now. It seems that once he realizes something is a problem and focuses on it he really gets chit done. If the national death rate is kept minimal here compared to other nations I think he locks up November...if he can hold the economy together between now and then, clear thinking people cannot blame him for the markets reactions.
I am done second guessing what seemed to me to be drastic measures to curb this thing, reflected on this/thought it thru and decided to fully back my Presidents response to this issue. I am ready to hunker down and ride out the storm here while wishing for the best possible result for our nation under the circumstances. Hope ya'll stay safe and God Bless America. 🇺🇸

The dr in that article never said one was way worse, unless I missed it. It says you really can’t call it mutated yet
The reports I’ve seen on the news described the two viruses, our dr’s description in those interviews say that L was the worse of the Two strains and described it as worse than S, for some reason the article I wanted on here wouldn’t download, but this one would, I thought it was interesting, it could change into a milder strain or a harder one if it desides to mutate.. according to some news reports.
The first sentence in this article says “ Two strains of the new Coronaviruses are spreading around the world”

On another note.....I find some of the reports on the news and websites that say “wearing a mask will not keep you from getting covid-19 “ so stupid....YET every hospital I see in pictures that nurses and doctors are working with infected patients ....ALL of them have masks and protective eyewear on like armored battle gear and if you look closely more are wearing one mask over the top of another mask... with goggles and a damn face shield!! Could someone tell those dr’s (who know more about viruses than we do) those protective masks and eyewear isn’t keeping them safer.....lmao ...hard to believe people really think protective measures don’t protect...

You are comparing direct patient contact with walking through Walmart. They are two different animals. Those HCP are also wearing gowns and following hygiene protocols. If you aren't doing the same and decontaminating upon arrival home the mask does minimal good. Not because it doesn't serve a purpose, but because the purpose it serves doesn't corelate with your level of risk.

Gown, mask, goggles, gloves. Remove gown with gloves, goggles, hand hygiene, remove mask. That will do you some good. Putting on a mask and feeling like you are doing yourself some good isn't wrong, it's just one piece of a puzzle nobody is finishing. The best thing about a mask for the average person is it keeps you from touching your face.

I find it kind of interesting that they have these huge lines here for testing, cars in line for as far as you can see. Sick or not sick, waiting in line would be the last place I'd want to be. If I was healthy enough to get into the car to go wait for a test, I certainly wouldn't be wasting my time in line waiting for a test. And if I was on my death bed I'd either already be in the hospital or dying at home.

How many here have ever gone in for a flu test? I don't understand the fascination with knowing that you absolutely have a specific virus instead of some other virus. If you get sick, assume you have it and stay home.
