Is there going to be a test to see if you’ve already had it?

I don’t think so because the tests look for live viruses. I think the only way we can test past cases is if we identify an antigen that the body makes in response to the virus. These are called titer tests. It’s common to get a titer for measles, for example. I don’t know if our bodies make antigens for CV, even if ineffective.

Sort of

You need to find the antibody the body makes to the viral antigen. Should be possible though- we have such for hep b,c, hiv etc

Interesting read
I was a delegate for Ron Paul last time he ran... lost faith in politics after that.

Thanks for sharing - god knows we need more honest folks in the mix.

If your saying what I posted is untrue I can send you the phone number to the credit union that sent me the email about it closing the bank on post and why.

Ah. . . Common misconception that people should be informed about. Credit unions are not banks. They are regulated differently and play by their own set of rules that look quite sketchy when compared to a Bank. . . This why they may be closing and banks won't be.

I been watching the news tonight and it’s starting to look like we are finally starting to take this serious nation wide, (looking at towns shutting down) except for the Florida spring breakers, also caught the age groups covid-19 is affecting world wide differently, Asian 20-29 was hit hard, itialian 40-50 ( that’s scary I’m 48) we All know it’s hitting the older with health issues hard but it seems to be affecting a wide range of ages in different places too, what has started off rolling like a small marble I’m afraid if we can’t come up with a cure will turn into a slow moving giant snowball if given enough time.............

The total number of confirmed infection cases in South Korea stands at 8,413 and 84 people have died.

That's 1%, right?

Since we've yet to come up with a cure for any virus I wouldn't hold my breath.

I wasnt sure whether I should post this here or in the Thread about Good things from Covid19.

My wife was mentioning how strange it was that she wasnt receiving the normal drunken Saint Patties Day messages from friends and family in Ireland.

In response, I of course suggested a drink. She asks for Gin and Tonic. Then with a smile says. G&T's were used in Africa to help keep people safe from Malaria. Which anti viral and anti-malaria meds are currently being tested some what successfully against CV19.

So tonic water has something called Quinine in it, which is an anti viral. So I just had a Doc prescribe a minimum of one G&T a day to maybe, possibly help avoid CV19.

Cheers!

(Dont be stupid and think this is going to save the world. It's not actual medical advice. just a bit of fun. But Quinine is a legit anti viral. YMMV)

Hep C is a virus for which there is a cure (more than 1 actually), but go on.

Malaria is not caused by a virus- its actually a parasite- a number of different parasites in the plasmodium family to be specific, depending on the malarial subtype.

Interestingly though- you are correct that people are trying chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine (both quinine derivatives) with some positive results as potential treatments for covid-19. So drink up my friend

Will be an eye opening lesson for some.

I couldn’t agree more, seems to be very common with my generation, maxing out credit cards buying 60,000 vehicles and mortgages they can’t pay, not saving a penny just spend spend spend, for what to look good and keep up with the Jones’s? This is going to be a rude awakening for many who are not financially prepared.

At some point the pain of millions of people unable to pay their bills is going to overshadow the pain of people not seeing their 87th birthday. Where that is I don't know, but if this does continue to increase, and I'm not convinced it will, that change in attitude will happen.

That's a condensed version of a comment I read earlier today. I think there is a lot of wisdom in it. The economy is crashing. You can judge people for not being financially astute but that doesn't change what happens when they become desperate, and that's just the well off we are talking about. The working poor are about to freak out. Sooner than later.
