Want a 7-300 prc. Need some help.

Not sure where to start. Will a standard long action work or do I need a magnum action? Also, anyone know of any good gunsmiths in the Midwest that can spin up a 7-300 PRC barrel?

Additionally, I know you have to neck down the 300 PRC brass. Does anyone recommend a die that can do that? I recall hearing that short action customs had some good dies.

And lastly, what are some good powders to try? I'm looking to push 170 and 180 grain bullets as fast as accurately possible.

Not sure about 7-300 PRC, but I'm pretty sure @huntnful has had a couple of 7-300 NMI's made by @barehandlineman . Those builds are getting some impressive accuracy.

On your die, your best option is the Hornady Match Grade bushing die set. Just buy the appropriate bushing and you’ll be golden. This is exactly what I did for my 6 PRC, which is necked down 6.5 PRC brass. Hornady dies don’t get enough love

In my opinion the 7-300prc isn't enough gain over a 28 nosler. The 25-7 pro is pretty interesting as well!

28 Nosler is finicky tho, and has short FB when done to SAAMI spec.

The freebore is decent for 180 class bullets, the 195s aren't worth the squeeze in my opinion. Also there are a ton of good bullets from 175-180 for the 7mm

The 7-300NMI interests me as well. I built myself a 25-7 PRC to hunt with this year, I’m really liking it.

The 7-300 is the best option for a big 7mm. To get a 28 done right its custom chamber anyway so might as well run lapua brass and get 7-300. 7-300prc imo isnt worth the hassle. I run 7-300nmi at what people claim to get with a 28 and shoots stupid small.

ADG actually makes 7-300 PRC Brass. You can order it from Unknown Munitions. Use any 300 PRC bushing die, use a .311 bushing and order a 7mm/.284 mandrel from the die manufacture. Whidden dies are my go to for wildcats but they are on the expensive side.

I know a few smiths with good 7/300prc reamers. Lane Precision Rifles and Manzella Precision. I have one, 22in 8tw barrel. Top end load on N570 will push 190/195s at 3k fps. My LPR chamber has lots of freebore.

7 NMI is a great choice if you want a nasty 7mm. Mine from @barehandlineman is very accurate and max performance that I could get at 20" suppressed.

I’m having one built as soon as I get a chance to get to my smith and have him order a reamer. Adg is supposed to have a reamer made by JGS to there brass specs ( I have 250 pcs ). For dies I have a FL Wilson bushing die, there mandrel die, and I also use there arbor press seating dies. I’ll run a 28” CRB barrel, ag stock, jewell trigger, PTG XL bdm to be able to load the 195’s out as far as I can 3.95 coal. I’ll have a nx8 4-32 for glass. Hoping to get them 3100 ish with n570.

Now that sounds like a fun build. A 25-7 PRC sounds like an absolute beast of a deer/pronghorn/Hogs build. Talk about laserbeams
