Vasectomy

I had one done 4 days ago. Procedure wasn’t bad. That said every time I get up it’s uncomfortable…stilll. I have not followed directions, as in rest, ice etc so that’s on me. So l my 6 week old was screaming for hours last night and I told the wife it was a good thing I had it done, between the internet, caping knife and some blantons I’d do it my damn self!

I've had haircuts that took longer than my vasectomy took. Go in on a Friday, take the weekend off and enjoy firing your first round of practice blanks to empty out the gun.

Urologist here. Go to a urologist who’s been out of residency for 5+ years and you’ll be fine. It’s not a hard procedure once you’ve done a few thousand. All of the complications I’ve ever heard of were when someone had it done by a GP.
March madness coming up… make your appointments everyone
My dude in 2017 said he'd done tens of thousands. Just last week I got a cold and my right nut was killing me again.

Not saying people chose poorly on their vasectomy, but how many dudes know there are only like 6 days a month you can get your girl pregnant??

I've been having sex for awhile and the wife has only gotten pregnant through intentional trying because she actually tracks that stuff. Its a fairly simple conversation "hey what are the chances of getting you pregant in the next 6 days?"

Thats probably a rule of thumb. My wife was an exception to that. That woman was fertile.

Just had mine done last Wednesday. My neighbor did it. But he's also a urologist.
He told me he does his in the OR as he does a lot of surgeries. He said when he got his done they loaded him up on Valium, gave him local lidocaine and sent him out the door. He didn't enjoy his experience, so he prefered to do it in the OR under sedation. I told him to sign me up.

Followed all of the rules, and Friday was feeling great! Friday night however, was a cruel twist of fate. Got hit with the stomach bug that's been going around (I was the first in my house to go down), and proceeded to dry heave and have diarrhea for 3 hours into early Saturday morning through 16 mg of Zofran.

My balls are now tremendously bruised in appearance from all that vomiting. My Vasectomy experience was great up until that point. Between fits of dry heaving and diarrhea I was laughing and crying. Laughing at the situation, crying from hurting all over, but particularly in the bean bag. Was worthless and hurting all over Saturday and Sunday.

Feel a lot better today, but I'm wearing a jock strap under my normal Under Armour compression briefs for that extra support. By end of day yesterday with just the compression briefs, the boys were aching pretty good.

Bro, Hispanic women get pregnant just by looking at them any time of the month or year. Lol

There’s a name for men who believe this statement.

Fathers.

No way am I gonna think to ask in the heat of the moment.

After two sets of twins, I had it done.
Was not bad at all.
Done on Friday and on Monday went back to work.
A little sore, but that was it.

A friend told me that, and he became a father, again at 50.

I’d rather become a monk than have someone “snip” me. Just my opinion.
That is a fine approach, until you start having more children than you planned for.....like Mike Tyson said, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth"

Had one about 25 years ago. Your wife has to sign off on the procedure also.

Yep. You are fully conscious. They will stick a long needle in your nuts to numb them.

Hurt? Painful? WTF do do think?

Doesn’t take long. Buy some frozen peas and pack the ‘twig and berries’ for 2 days. Don’t do much.

You’ll live

Edit/PS
Amazing the things you remember 25 years later
You won’t die.
Follow the recovery recommendations, tightttt! Underwear, try to avoid bouncing the boys around for the first month!

FWIW, I was in moderate to severe pain for over two weeks. I am at week 4.5 at this very moment and am still pretty tender on occasion. Not claiming that I’m the toughest guy on the planet, but I’ve broken close to a dozen bones, countless sprains, 1 major surgery etc. so I am no stranger to pain. I think the recovery has a lot to do with anatomy. I followed all the protocols to a T. I did go back to work 3 days post op (“light duty” in regards to I didnt pick up anything heavy but I am on my feet all day working with my hands). That may have played a part but Doc told me that he suspected I would have a longer recovery. Not sure exactly why but man, those first two weeks were pretty rough.

Edit: Duluth Trading “bull pen” underwear turned out to be my saving grace. I tried all kinds of jock straps and compression shorts and none worked well for me. Im not so sure that I still wouldn’t be miserable if I hadn’t found those underwear at week 2.

I was set up to have one done… no needle no pain ( that’s what they said anyway )

Went to the consultation and paid the 400$ consultation fee.

After talking to the doctor I told him how active I was as my job has me on my feet for hours on end. Going up and down rivers and mountains.

He told me I could get swollen down stairs from time to time. Depending on how much strain I was putting on my body and that I should carry ibuprofen where ever I go.

i couldn’t risk having something happen if I was guiding a client in the middle of the backcountry and had an emergency with my balls.

I had extreme anxiety after that and couldn’t bring myself to go through with it…

Best of luck

Did he mean you could get “swollen downstairs from time to time” for eternity? Or just a short period after surgery?
