Utah- what the hell?

Coincidently, the SLT OPed originally posted in post #1 about bad Mike Lee and Co in UT was written by Mike Bell. Did not the same Mike Bell run as Democrat for UT house in 2020 and lost. The same Mike Bell's top priorities include green energy development. Green energy development has and will continue to take more land off the table long term for public land hunters and users than Mike Lee ever has been able to.
What part of that post even remotely comes close to saying or inferring that I support green energy development on public land?

i didnt say you did. just relax. i was wondering if it is the same Mike Bell and i thought you were from UT and might know.
I am from Utah but generally when asking a question you end the sentence with a question mark not a period. A period means you are making a statement.

If Mike Lee is involved in anything having to do with public land policy, I'd really read between the lines. Everything he puts forward is to strip our access to federal lands or the sound management of federal lands.

Exactly. He has a looooooong history of wanting to rid Utah (and the US if possible) of all federal lands. He can frame it a 100 different ways, but in the end he wants the same thing.

And does it matter if a bill doesn't appear to be going anywhere vs knowing about a bill has been introduced that could adversely affect our hunting? Personally I want to know, even if it appears to be going nowhere.

Whys that. How many acres have been transfered under Mike Lee legislation?

I think that's the whole point of this thread (and others); that thus far no lands have been transferred, but certainly not for a lack of trying on his part.

The real question is how many acres do you think Mike Lee would like to see transferred with this legislation (and his past and almost certainly- future legislation)?

Do we give him a pass because his legislation is killed/stalled/dies?

How about writing his office to express your displeasure if you haven't?

The reality is there aren't any politicians that always do everything right. I think it's better to have one that has promoted one issue that won't pass instead of switching to a different one that will be wrong more often. YMMV.

I’m guessing not being a constituent, he’s probably not overly concerned with my displeasure.

I have written my representative and my two senators.

Got two different emails today.

One is our friend Senator Mike Lee's HOUSE Act- lets states and local govts buy up federal lands to put houses up- low income, condos, whatever...... great idea Mike!

Then evidently the state of Utah not to be outdone; the state legislature is pushing a suit to control 18.5 million acres of public federal lands.

Nice work!
lets pray this costs utah tax payers big time. i hate the feds as much as the next guy but getting rid of federal public land is the fastest way to destroying this countries equal access to our land for us have nots.

I’ve enjoyed the western hunting and conservation expo the last couple of years but I think I’ll be skipping it this February and I hope a bunch of other people will consider doing the same. We need to hit the state of Utah where it will feel it and a couple of million dollars in lost tourism dollars might make them think about their actions.

Great idea! The other day I booked a flight and had the option to connect through SLC or DFW. It would have been more convenient to fly through SLC but I booked through DFW in protest to this lawsuit. Sure, someone else will take my seat but it feels good not contributing to Utah's tax base. Keep up the good work fellas 👏

To the Utah residents, because I know very little about Utah lands, are there State tracts of land, or prvt landowner management that has been better hunting access and success story, or are most OTC/general tags hunted on Fed land? Where do most guys hunt?

I’m not a Utah resident but I know a little about Utah, they have very little state land and when it comes to private lands management they do have a system similar to our access yes but it is not that popular and they also allow big ranches to enroll in PLWMU which essentially turns their ranch(and in many cases public lands within the bounds of their ranch) into a separate hunting unit that the private landowners get to sell tags for

Utah still has some State Trust lands, but have sold roughly 55% of those lands; about 4 million acres

Must be so great to hunt in Utah that they have to come to Co, Wyo, ID, and Az every year… I would reckon if Mike Lee gets his way, there will be even more Utards venturing out of state to hunt….

I’m guessing they won’t be doing that because if Mike Lee gets his way there won’t be any public lands in any of the other states listed
