Seekins Havak Element checks most of your boxes. Except price.
I have an element. I agree they are a great lightweight rifle option. But at 5.5lbs bare rifle in a short action... ULUL they are not. My custom rem700SA clone 6mmCM in an hnt26 chassis...with a folding stock... weighs 1.25lbs less than the lightest havak element (and shoots better, and is more packable, etc). My ULUL AR15s are 2.5-3.5lbs lighter-weight than the element.

I run the Jag Composites nut which I think is the lightest and comes with holes already tapped all the way around. It works great with 2 screws or more. 30 ft lbs
Which size carbon fiber tube are you using with the JAG nut? Measuring it seems like 36x34mm will be a tight fit…. Also it seems that tube is only available in gloss everywhere I look.

I'll try to look it up, it's somewhere buried in this thread. I did end up with gloss, but a brown (scotchbrite?) Pad dulled it nicely in about 20 seconds.
Oh, and 2 wraps of electrical tape made it fit nicely, held on with 2 screws

I used 35x37mm and it takes 2 wraps of electrical tape fore and aft to make it fit nice. Packgoatguy went with the 34x36mm and it took a lot of sanding on both faces. He also used the Jag Composites nut

Need some advice on "red dots". I'm seriously considering using a holosun with the their chevron reticle. It gives pretty precise shot placement to 300, and then I can use holdover out to 400 or so, and just forget about ever shooting further. For those that know this stuff, what do you think?

Does the lack of magnification make this more like a 200 yard rig?

The tip of the chevron is 1moa.

I'm going to finally shoot my ulul this weekend at 4lbs scoped, so I'll see if I really want to shave almost 3/4 of a pound off that with a 2oz holosun. That would put me at just a little over 3lbs for a long LOP, suppressed, 300+ yard fully functional elk killer, crazy, or stupidlight!

HE507C-GR-X2-ACSS. Listed at 1.5oz in 3 places, and 2.6 on Amazon. Probably closer to 2.6oz with the picatinny base.
Is the elevation of this on the solo upper going to be decent?

The 507c I have weighs 1.7oz without base with a battery.

Compared to the PA SLX, you will find that the chevron is less crisp and defined. I have a slight astigmatism and the point of the chevron is a little undefined for me. I could certainly see it working just fine from 3-400 in an open setting depending on your eyes.

Thanks, do you have much low light experience with either?

My trijicon SRO has held zero where my vortex venom didn't do as well. It is also a 1moa Red Dot.

The PA SLX 3x performs orders of magnitude better in low light especially with the very low illumination setting. The 507 works well too when dimmed way down, the more dim the reticle the more crisp it is for me.

The PA is built like a tank and provide precision capability that really impresses me in the small package. I don't feel that it gives much up to a normal variable scope. The 507 has been through hell on a chest holster and has held up great. If I was hiking 5 miles back to shoot an elk before sunset, ide take the extra 6.5oz every time. For a walkabout rifle… sure throw that 507 on there.

I wonder how much worse the 5x microprism is compared to the 3x in low light? I think I'd opt for the 5 to try and get out to 3-400

So what brace will go along with the 12” cut down barrel. Or do you have an sbr ?
12 inch BCA 5.56 barrel. 13.4oz including thread adapter. Gunsmith removed gas journal and plugged gas port, and cut 16 inch barrel down from 16 to 12, and threaded 1/2x28, then rockset on the thread adapter.
