Here is a pic of a similar jmac knockoff stock on the scale if that helps. Folder mechanism is very stiff to begin with, but gets better with use... mounts to a 1913 adapter.

This is the lightest folder adapter I've found, for buffertube to buffertube. Has anyone else found anything lighter weight?

I assume it will be 3lb 2-4oz once it’s all done, despite what the part weights have been provided. Going with a holosun 2moa red dot. That gives me a 4” dot out to 200 yards. Plenty accurate for hitting deer ribs.

1.8oz farrowtech minimalist stock end
3.2oz jemachine full length aluminum buffertube
3.0oz JAG composites handguard and barrel nut hardware (note handguard is over the advertised weight)
19.3oz faxon 223wylde pencil barrel
4.0oz Tennessee arms carbon fiber stripped lower (note, Tennessee arms takes their dear sweet time in shipping... it was nearly 3 weeks before they made contact with the FFL and put it in the mail, and the lower was in stock at the time of order)
2.0 NFA LPK without grip
1.6oz lightweight hogue poly grip (not the one that comes with the lpk, that's like 2.6oz...)
1.0oz mdt carbon grip

The tan one in the pic is the IMI Kidon. Only issues with it are, it's an inch and a half too short for my preferred LOP, and the poly material has a bit of flex to it. Fine for an sbr setup, but not ideal if I'm trying to take long precise shots. Definitely a good alternative to the smoke composites... considering if you want a folder with a smoke setup, you are at about 9oz... and a couple hundred dollars more.

Fortis castle nut is the lightest I've found. Not necessary with the BTFA folder or Kidon though.

V7 ti grip screw is about half the weight of the ones that come with the NFA LPK.

The MDT carbon grip is the lightest grip I've found at about an ounce. The little Hogue 15 degree grip is about 1.5-1.6oz. Probably could get it lighter by skeletonizing... which probably is worth it considering the MDT grip is like 10 times the cost...

If anyone is looking for unsolicited advice... I'd suggest the following main parts list to shave every ounce without breaking the bank, and running a bolt style ar15 without needing to do any machining.

Solo300 upper
Faxon 223wylde pencil barrel
Tennessee arms carbon stripped lower
NfA lpk
V7 ti grip screw
Hogue 15 degree grip (then skeletonize to take off a half ounce)
JAG composites barrel nut
Farrowtech buttstock
JA machine straight aluminum buffertube (will be lighter and way cheaper than a smoke composites, especially if you add some holes to skeletonize it a bit)
BTFA folder adapter if you need a folder (of skip the above and use the IMI kidon, and add some foam for a more comfortable butt stock and more LOP)

For a handguard, find a piece of aluminum or carbon fiber tube that has an inside diameter that closely matches the outer diameter of the barrel nut...

My build is currently sitting at 4lbs 9.1oz including 10.2oz Scope (swfa 2.5-10), 3oz 1 piece rings (aero precision), scope caps, 3oz ten round pmag, folding stock with cheek riser (homemade from carbon fiber), 8oz suppressor, .3oz muzzle thread adapter, and upgraded Giselle trigger (adds about 1.5oz), a .7oz arca rail (including screws and nut), and about a .3oz diy gas block barrel hole cover out of aluminum tubing (not yet tested... so not sure if it will hold up).

Bare rifle sits at about 2lbs 15.8oz without scope, mag, suppressor, etc.

I’ve gone down the aluminum tube route as well as Samson is back ordered for the gas block. Let me know how yours works out, mine will be here Monday to try to get it fitted

This is what it looks like... I haven't shot it yet. Trying to give the JBweld plenty of time to cure. Basically, I used a bit of the steel putty to plug the little hole, then once that was set I used the 5k psi stuff to put a piece of aluminum pipe over it. Then I used the quick set putty again to put another larger aluminum tube over the top of that one, so it would hold everything in place while it cured. The two pieces of tube weighed about 0.3oz, and I hope I didn't use more than an ounce of jbweld... so hopefully less weight than a ti gas block. Hopefully it holds...

I drilled (stoped before going through to leave a solid stopping point) then tapped 4-40 into the port. Then put a stainless set screw in there that was sanded to be perfectly flush with the barrel OD. Then I had a 0.0015" undersized stainless sleeve made, and thermal fit it by heating the sleeve with an induction heater until it would drop on, about 500*f. The sleeve is .750od by 1 inch long and weighs the same as a cut down aluminum gas block. It may have been easier to just use the gas block I already have modified, but I thought this would be fun and clean looking while also hopefully last forever without issue. Last thing, I told faxon they should just made straight/no port barrels for this application and they said they'll think about it.
