Is a cow bison worth it to shoulder mount and have the back half of the hide tanned? Or tan the full hide and a euro? If anyone has pics please post them

It’s 100% personal preference. For me, personally, I prefer the tanned hide and euro mount. The huge, wide head and massive shoulders on a bull make an impressive mount and I don’t know that you’d get the same effect with a cow. But the mount is for you, not everyone else. If you want a shoulder mount, I say go for it!

We have 3 cow bison euros and tanned hides.
I think the euros make the smaller cow horns look better.
Moyle Mink in Idaho did all the hides and they are nice.

I agree with the above comment on the size and grandeur of a bull mount over a cow. The cow euros look fine to me. However there are some big, old cows too.

There are some big cows out there. It will probably all depend on what she looks like. And I suppose I shouldn't get too focused because I don't have on dead yet. But thanks guys for your input

As someone with a bull shoulder mount and the back half tanned my personal opinion for a cow would be the full hide with a euro. While the cows are big their heads are much narrower and not nearly as impressive as a big bull. In my case the corner mount hides how big he is until you are right up next to him. He sticks 42” off the wall so that allows him to be a focal point without overwhelming the wall.

For the money you’d spend on the taxidermy I’d say the skull would make a nice trophy and the full sized fur would make a nice addition to the bed. My hide was wide enough to cover the foot of a king sized bed but the full hide of a big cow should cover the entire thing. If I ever shoot a second one a cow with the euro and full hide tanned is going to be my choice.

Thanks for the pictures! After looking at some I do think a euro is best. Comparing that front view, a cow might look silly with the narrow head and different horn shape.
