Two party system: a necessary evil?

I don’t think there’s a better way than a two party system. I wish there was but, all I see is the most money wins under any other system. Granted, that’s a large determining factor under a two party system. But, it certainly hasn’t applied in presidential races.


What I do think is term limits for the house. I used to be against them because as voters, we already had term limits if voters were responsible. However, time has shown that regional and state elections simply don’t get the turnout.


So, I’m all for term limits on all public offices except sheriffs. Sheriffs tend to be held to the fire by their constituents. So, local citizens know if they deserve to continue or not.

Damn, there’s been so much about the election lately it’s stuck in my brain- I read the OP and couldn’t figure out what the whitetail rut and kids birthdays had to do with politics, thinking to myself- “get to the point already”

For an actual response- enjoy the parties while they’re young enough to have them.

Don't pro-create in January or February and DEFINITELY don't get married in October or November. Problem solved. I have numerous friends and a father who made one of these mistakes.

Parties on Sundays. Hunt non-rut times. Have only one party. Plenty of options.

Also, I’m speaking from experience here too…just skip your kid’s party and go hunt instead one year. You’ll figure out which one really matters more.

Wow! I feel for you. It can feel like a treadmill and also become stressful.

I was more agreeable to a 2 party system than my wife. I however think I got lucky. She said one party was the way to go and if someone didn't like it, they could lobby for something else. With her it was a waste of time though. 1 party, kids and adults and that was that.

We occasionally had two parties when the kids were in late grade school/early jr high. We would have a combo kids and adults party and then a separate kid's one usually at some kind of entertainment place. When the kids got older they prefered to just have a family party which was always low key, good food, and fun with the family.

And thankfully 2 of the 3 didn't interfere with hunting including spring turkey. The other was a fall birthday (planned very carefully) but didn't interfere with the WI or IL bow opener so it was good. She preferred a spring delivery for various reasons so I never really had to negotiate or lobby for dates that would benefit me for hunting.

Me on the other hand, I would have had at least 2 parties, more if I could. But that's coming from someone who had a few birthdays forgotten and a few that would have been better if they were.
