Triathlon/Marathon/Endurance Sports Thread

Last year around this time I decided to get in better shape and needed a fitness goal so I decided I was going to run a marathon. I picked the closest marathon to my location, which was a year later. I've never been a runner so I started doing short (as in 1 mile!) runs in January after hunting seasons were over to get in running shape and to a point I could effectively start to train. Then in March this thread popped up and I've been quietly lurking ever since. I'm happy to say I finished the race today!

Thank you to @OregonSteeler for starting this thread as it has helped to motivate and keep me accountable.

Congratulations on hitting your goal! That's a lot of work and effort you put in so be proud!!

Recently signed up for 2026 IM Coeur d'Alene 70.3 and another local half IM a couple weeks before. Though I do need to finally schedule in a marathon as I've never ran one yet.

A few weeks ago I ran my first ultramarathon - a local race, 50k. 12 loops - I had to DNF after the 11th loop and the race director was extremely disappointed but on that loop I nearly injured myself a few times and I work on my feet as a freelancer so if I get injured and call out of work - I don't get paid and I have an 8 month old so that's not an option.

I ran 27.72 miles and had a blast, did much better than I thought I would and it was my first trail race as I do mostly road running. Tons of room for improvement but that makes me more excited and hungrier to keep it going.
