Exactly. I was going to post before and after pictures, but got busy around the house. Tonight I will swap shrouds to give you a weight with the plastic one, and with the new one.
Looks like I am .22 ounces heavier with the new handle, knob, and shroud. But it is all due to the shroud I am sure.
I don't have that shroud I don't think but I can show you the weight difference in the one I have versus the stock plastic one. .35oz (9.9 grams) difference
I have both an MPI and a Manners. The MPI was done by Rick at Extreme Rifle Works. It weighs about 17.1 ounces. With this stock and shortening the barrel 20 inches I was able to get my tikka T3 308 down to right around 6 pounds with a set of tally lightweight rings and a Leopold fixed 4 power scope. The manners stock was only about 1.5 oz lighter than factory with pad. I actually went back to the factory stock on my 300 WSM because I like to feel better then the manners
Mtnboy - I only went to 22" because of the size of the case, haven't weighed it yet - I think it will be a nice deer/antelope gun though and 22" is a lot handier to carry in the truck - with 130's I doubt the 2" will be missed
Mtnboy - CM Tikka T3 Lite with 22" barrel Limbsaver recoil pad and Mountain Tactical aluminum picattiney rail and Leupold Rifleman rings - No scope - 6lb 9.5oz (not as light as I would have spected)
I just weighed my 7mm RM superlight w/o scope base but with Limbsaver pad and alum bolt shroud is 6lb 1.4oz - I sure wish they'd produce a superlight in 270 WSM but doubt that will happen - I can't even get an answer as to what the chambering line up really is other than 300 Win Mag, 7mm RM, 30.06 & 308 (Cabela's), .243 - I'd take a 7mm-08 superlight in a heartbeat but I've yet to find one at any SW - Oh well ......
