Tikka 223 magazine feeding issues

Castle Rock,
I learned something new on the mags. My T3 .223 definitely has all plastic mag.

Lots of good info in this thread. I have (2) tikka 223a and love them. I have several 4 and 6rd mags and while they feed nice when they feed, it sure sucks when the gun goes click because the bolt rode over the room of the next round. I’ve played around stretching the springs and bending them with some trial and error error. And they are now “ok” but not fool proof. I went to a chassis on one rifle and run MDT Poly mags with no trouble now.

In NZ the metal lipped magazine is listed as the T3X magazine and has been supplied with them as long as I've known. Mine was modified to 2.5 coal.

A couple evenings ago, I shot 84 rounds of 223 from factory mags with my super glue fix.
2-4rnd mags and 1-6rnd mag, 6 times while rotating through several other rifles.

Not a huge sample but especially from the 6rnd mag, ZERO fail to feeds so far!
The 4rnd mags have been about 99% for me, I've had a few ftf in 3k-ish rounds.
the 6rnd mag on the other hand has been so finicky I just quit trying until trying the glue trick.

After the session, the glue showed very little wear. another session or two will give a better idea of expected wear.20250801_191953.jpg

Over the weekend wife n I put another 90 rnds through the altered 223 mags with zero fail to feeds.
The most recent method was 5 minute epoxy mixed with atomized stainless steel powder to see if it would be more wear resistant.

So far this shows zero wear or marks.
Super glue is hard but brittle and one side of one mag is slightly chipped but still functions.

Any chance you'd make a video on setup for this procedure? How you prep the mags that is? Quick working time, don't want to eff it up.

I will when I get time. it's super simple, just scratch it with a Razor knife, alcohol it, apply a dab of epoxy.
